Synthetic versus True Opiates and other medications

Wouldn't it be cheaper if we made our own medicines...all synthetic,since we have the technology and it would be saving money...instead of shipping billions of dollars into another country for their opium.....Or do we need to keep relationships like these with other countries simply for the sole purpose of the relationship,and not even if fact for business?
Just an interesting issue I just thought about as I was logging into my 2nd home the shroomery.

Extraction is almost always easier and cheaper than synthesis.

Once you extract the basic product you only have to do a few things to it in order to get the desired product.

My post always require only 1 reply..lol
always seems like when I ask a question either im really stonned and think its a smart logical question or I ask it and only 1 person answers it,but see if u answer it and noone else replies because it wouldnt matter if they replied or not because the question has already been answered.then does that mean im still stonned?
