Philosophy is nuttier than new age-ism.
    #9205223 -

Take Maxwell's demon.

He proposed that the Second Law of Thermodynamics could be violated by inserting a demon into this box to only let hot air particles move one way, by opening and closing it at the right times as they naturally drift.

However, to my knowledge, no new-ager has ever proposed skeptics could be converted by means of a demon that would collect and compile convincing evidence to prove their case.

So, give these people a break! :crazy2:

wow

Imagine the quantum leaps that could be achieved in science if we could just insert demons when necessary

They're both nutty in their own ways.

I prefer the psychology of Rational Emotive Behavior. The Buddha had it and Epictetus had it and then someone tried to turn it into a philosophy and a religion and mucked it all up.

Of course not; the demons are all busy hiding evidence from the skeptics.

Demons are always my favorite excuses. They are just plain convenient!

No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

Did you know that before the scientific method was discovered by Galileo Greek philosophers debated long and hard about whether two different weights dropped from the same height would fall at the same speed? Then someone actually thought to test. lol.

You may find that quaint and amusing, but whenever someone here has made a solid, testable paranormal claim, I frequently have offered a large sum of money and time to test it.

Instead of taking me up on it, there usually follows 10 or 20 pages of equivocating and no takers.

Nothing substantive has changed about humans in thousands of years.
