IS there anyway to prevent a user from runnin kiddie scripts

to grab IP addresses?

Check out MHbounds signature, how can this be? So anyone could use that program to know everyones IP that visits this board?

That script from danasoft is as old is my grampy. It doesn't log anything, it's just a script that shows your information. The same information that you give off every time you go anywhere on the internet.

No real reason to be afraid if someone has your IP unless you really piss them off and they have a botnet or they're twelve and find it cool to put random IPs into a botnet they just made.

I'm not worried about danasoft logging IP's or anything, just that there is an ability for a user to harvest IP's from this site.

I disabled photo's and avatars, but a script like the danasoft script can't be blocked from my account settings, I can still see the image in MHbounds signature saying my IP is [*****] and my OS is [******]

You disabled the wrong thing then. Only shroomery admins can see IP's of internal pics/uploads, everyone on the net can see your IP from external.

I don't think he can see your IP. I think it just shows you your own IP.

Anyone on this site can see your IP if you have images turned on. FACT.

They do not however know whos IP it is, there is no way for them to associate the logged IP with a username. The only way for them to do that would be to send you a message with a link or an image. I would be careful what you click in PM's.

Or use a proxy, like someone said you are on the internet man, nothing is really safe.
