Leccinum species.

Not sure exactly which Leccinum species it is. I thought they were beautiful.The flesh didn't stain any color,at least for the 5 minutes I spent with them.

Found them a couple weeks ago in a graveyard.

Did you note potential mycorrhizal trees?  Those are always helpful for identification.

Alot of birch and maples were around.They were growing pretty far from any trees though.

are you still seeing many mushrooms up your way daniel?

they have started to cut back here which sux, oysters and weilii are still going strong though

I'm not far from Danny and things have really slowed down.  You can still find mushrooms if you know where to look (as always).  CC's probably correct on this one.  The Western PA club has found it a couple of times.

weiliiiiiii,I haven't been out much of late (on account of being so busy) but I just found some Panaeolina foenisecci growing by my sidewalk.Some weird looking frost burnt Agrocybes? under my pine tree too.Things are slowing down for sure though.

I don't feel too bad about it.  I have found 4 of these this year after 20 years of hunting them.  I guess I was due.

Damn man, I was teasing earlier in the other thread.  I had these over Labor Day weekend.  Many people compare them to Lobster.  It is one of the best tasting mushrooms I have ever eaten.  Fuck the Butt Plugs.  I read earlier today they can take as long as Shittake to fruit off a log.  Bags would be the way to grow.  Nice indoor winter project.  hint hint

Me either but I was reading about it today.  The bag thing looks really easy for these.  I'll bet there is a thread on it over in Cultivation forum or Edibles.

also those dowels are on sale for 300 of them for 30$, think of all the patches you could create with those, seriously just hit up every large piece of dead wood.

Hericium are one of my very favourite edibles.  I've had wild and indoor cultivated Hericium, and for whatever reason (substrate?) the wild ones are FAR superior in flavour and texture.
