Well, just like windows has DOS as their core to their OS...Linux has the Linux kernel, and they rewrite everything. I understand that each OS is written by different groups of people, but still I think Microsoft could afford to do it. I feel it would benefit the OS. Some of the errors are mixed in with the millions of lines of code...They have no chance of finding it, and it's only going to get worse in my opinion. They have found work arounds like when a window freezes the whole OS doesn't freeze...They did this by not letting the software communicate directly with the hardware. Only the OS can communicate directly with it. I think them just rigging it up is going to bite them in the ass one day, but I have a feeling they are working on an entirely new OS at the moment.
