Had a bolt hit my house or near it once at 4 am and it was so loud I about jumped 3 feet out of bed. It must have reverberated for another minute. Never heard one that loud before.

Once when I lived in Florida there was during one of our everyday thunderstorms the loudest fucking thunderclap I have ever heard.  It was at least three times louder than the rest of the thunder that day.  I was about a mile away from where it struck and it rattled the glass doors at my work.  My buddy lived a block away from where it struck and it shattered two of his windows.  It's weird how that shit happens.

It was rad. What's the closest you've ever been to a lightning bolt? 

Another time when I was in FL, I was watching a storm out my sliding glass door when a lightning bolt struck the utilities pole across the street and threw sparks all over the place.  That was fucking loud.  It scared the shit out of me.  The smell of ozone was very strong.
