Your in the prime of your life, it is not a handicap. Try not to hold grudges against people who dismiss you for being younger. I can honestly say I am astounded at the amount of patience thats often disposed towards those of us under 30 who often make claims our whole lives of understanding how the world really works, when in reality we are still constantly learning about it.

I hope to be one of those older folks who can maintain patience for people who speak like they know a great deal about the world when they know very little outside their own little world.

i realize age should not play into hanging out with someone, but if your an immature 60 year old im not going to chill with you just as much as i wouldn't hang out with an immature 19 year old.  recently left a group of friends (all about 18-19) and only talk to 1 or 2 of them now because of the maturity difference.  seriously, there is a huge maturity jump from 18 and fresh out of high school to 21 with just 3 little years of some actual life experience.  im only 21 btw, but for the most part, i absolutely refuse to chill with people just fresh out of high school, they are just ignorant to the ways of the world (and i still am as well, but not to the same degree)

one of my really good friends now (he just turned 19 probably 2 months ago) is actually extremely cool, he gets along with my group of friends (21-26) and acts his age and not his shoe size.  he has a lot more life experience than most of his friends (taking care of himself, living on his own, partying, etc) and it really does show, he did the partying when he was younger (16) went to rehab (for BS reasons, parents thought pot was a major problem for him) talked to older guys (most 20+ at the time) and realized some things while he was there that most people don't pick up on til a little later in life.  he has his shit together, isn't a bum or mooch and is really cool, so i forget that he is 19 and accept him for his maturity, not for his age.

the older crowd is cool with me as long as i drink and smoke and have fun

just because you smoke and drink with the older crowd doesn't make you a mature person, sorry bro.

Eh as they say in some Outkast song: "Age ain't nothin but a number."

I know 26 year olds who about as mature as most college freshmen or sophomores. Maturity is much more important than actual age.

I'm 19 too, good to see there are a bunch of people my age on here but in actuality it really doesn't matter.  I would throw out some advice but there have already been some great responses and I would just end up repeating them.
