Flipping a penny ten googols times an infinite amount of times would theoretically both produce and not produce ten googols of heads an infinite amount of times.

How do you know you're flipping the coin? You're just making the flipping motion and observing it flipping. YOU DON'T KNOW FOR SURE. Not even after an infinite amount of times I guess.

This man knows his stuff.

How do you know you aren't just a butterfly dreaming you're a man?  :toomuchacid:

ehh, your just defining rise in some funky way.  That which the sun does every morning and has done every morning for the past 4 billion years is known as 'rising'.  It will happen tomorrow, and how I know that is because it is statistically impossible for it not to happen.  (no I havent done the statistics)

We want none of your matter-of-fact pragmatism here in P&S.

You still don't know for certain. We do know that the Sun will die out in about 5 billion years though. TAKE THAT!

P.S. Define "define" :smirk:

Thats a topic for the science forum :nerd:  I dont think philosophers believe that stuff

One difference is that Newtonian physics is deterministic and quantum physics is probabilistic.  Newtonian physics is what arises when the many small probabilities in quantum physics are summed over a large number.

Example - One of you atoms may tunnel through the wall, there is a chance that could happen.  But all of you atoms tunneling through the wall would be statistically impossible, so you dont see that happen in Newtonian physics.

What am I doing, I said I would retire...:kingtard:
