I'm supporting McCain, ok?
    #9080234 -

But I have a serious question for the Obama supporters.  Let's say he wins, and nothing changes.

He will probably get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan, but let's say that taxes stay pretty much the same, healthcare stays pretty much the same, education stays pretty much the same.

What will your response to all that be?  Would you vote 3rd party next election, or Republican, or not at all?  Will you hold Obama accountable or blame Congress?

I'm curious, because I believe Obama will win and be a typical politician with a great line of bullshit.

The fact that people who I consider otherwise intelligent are getting swept up into thinking Obama is more than just another politician really astounds me. The rock star frenzy surrounding him is going to come crashing down to reality if he gets elected.

No war = no more assimilation of debt = stabilization of the US dollar, rather than the mass inflation our present republican president has caused.

It will take a long time before I start casting blame Obama's way if he is elected.  The last 8 years were terrible.  Their mistakes will continue to have an impact on this country for a long time to come, regardless of who wins this election.

The next president will be fighting an uphill battle from day 1 in office.

Where do you people come up with this?  The war is an extremely small part of our debt.  The biggest holder of the US debt is entitled US citizens.

So, your expectation of Obama is to reduce the national debt?  What will your reaction be if that does not happen?

I agree.  I'm not saying you are one of 'those people' but I note that a lot of people blame Bush for the economy being fucked right now without looking at the role the Clinton administration had in the shit credit housing markets, the failure to regulate runaway growth in the tech sectors, etc.

gotta love TV - depending on what station you watch, the story, and blame is very different. FOX News seems to be the best in regard to showing both sides of the story.

NBC is obviously supporting Obama and exaggerating some issues and hiding others rather than reporting all the facts.

Polls say Obama is ahead in the swing states, but I just read an article saying there's a chance people are saying they support Obama but will actually vote McCain - mostly people that don't want to seem racist when asked...

No. You are making things too simple. War can be hella profitable just look at WW2.

Obama wants to put more troops in Afghanistan.

He also wants to impose a mandatory volunteer service for people of a certain age.  Community and government jobs.

Fuck Obama, but fuck McCain more.

On the flip side, it would be harder to win a war if it wasn't profitable.

At least if McCain is President he'll be handcuffed by a Democratic majority in both the House and Senate, in all likelihood.

the president cant declare war, he cant demand that taxes be
raised, he simply doesnt have the power Obama as well as the
democrat controlled congress gives him that power, Obama said
that he was the only major candidate that didnt support the
war from the beginning, considering we started fighting in
afghanistan on 2002 and in Iraq in 2003, guess what Obama had
no choice in saying whether or not we went to war, didnt Ron
Paul also oppose the war when Obama made that statement, didnt
he also vote against the war? doesnt he also vote against
funding for the war? Obama votes to approve funding for the
war every time one comes up, sounds to me like Mr.Opposed
actually supports the war

But dude, Obama is all about CHANGE!
He'll change stuff man, he will.
If you want to see this country head in a different direction it's obvious you need to vote for him, since he runs in one of the two major parties that have dominated this country ever since it's inception (Whigs don't count, they're nt around anymore.)

I recall there being two kinds of change, one for the good,
one for the worse

Obama never really specified which he stood for, I'll assume
it's the latter after viewing his voting record and comparing
it to the claims he makes

I don't think he's more than a politician, but I think he's the best democratic candidate since clinton, if that means anything, and I think there might even be a chance that he will do a good job.
