anyone getting college loans for next semester?

so im finally transferring out of junior college to san francisco state. i start in the spring semester and the loans are gonna be a bitch. im looking at about 7k for tuition books ect. but, im gonna need another 13k to pay for a new pc, rent, car insurance, gas monet and all that other fun bullshit to survive while im actually there.
    my question is has anyone else tried to get a student loan lately? what the the process like? and was it a bitch to get approved?

    ive allready applied for 3 different private student loans just cover tuition and books whith a co signer with good credit and been turned down all 3 times, all the applications were online and none of them were clear as to why i got turned down.
is now just the wrong time to be looking for loans with the fucked up banking crisis?

it said will mail you a slip of paper within 10 business days that will tell you why.... im guessing its gonna say i was declined cause it was raining stockbrokers and investment bankers on wallstreet all week.

Thinking of loans makes me sick; I've racked up more than $100,000 in student loans as a result of my undergrad and law school.  I'll be paying the government back for many many years.  Anyway, why can't you get any public loans such as the Stafford (unsubsidized or subsidized)?

the only thing they offered to me was the unsubsidized where i or my parents would still have to make payments while i was in school. also they would be strictly for the school approved amount of about 7k. it wouldnt cover all the other bullshit.

Taking out student loans to pay for non-school related stuff is riskey business.  Try all other options first.  That said, I had to take out loans to pay rent this year.  I got them through my FAFSA

I've taken out subsidized loans for the purpose of trading the markets and sticking it into high yielding accounts....GET THE BIGGEST SUBSIDIZED LOAN POSSIBLE!

and on the note of taxes.... interest on educational loans are above the line tax deductions under section 62 of the internal revenue code.

basically 0% financing on the loan while you are in school and no payments = free money to be made.

very difficult for them to find out that you are not using it towards school purchases.

well, i'll be getting 3,700 in loans and my parents will pay cash for the rest. i live at home though so they dont have to pay for all the rooming bullshit. when i left the dorms my tuition went from around 20000 to ~8000 a year. living at home does kinda blow though..

I just got my school fees payed off today so at least I can schedule classes for next semester. You dont know Shirley Rayer, do you?
