But come on, somebody getting paid 1/2 mill to show up and another couple of hundred k to get a knockout is NOT going to put their career in jeopardy by going down like a sack of bricks to the first punch.  Makes zero fucking sense!

Kimbo is what he is.  A self taught fighter who is trying to improve.  But a little late in his life, and at his age, it is very very difficult to cycle your juice the right way for any number of years.

In this particular fight, he made the mistake of taking his eyes off of his oponent when shooting in for the leg.  When the other fighter saw this, he gave Kimbo the leg, in order to do what he did.

He is rookie.  But not a sellout.  He almost lost his last fight when people thought he was tapping (he was really telling ref he was ok).  And then in his first loss, he came in without any cardio, and ended up getting beat real bad by a relative no-name.

Mistakes happen.  As long as Kimbo doesn't do the same mistake over and over again (steroids???) he will continue to get better, and I am sure he could make the top 10 in UFC in the next few years if for no other reason than raw power, and confidence.

Just my 1% of my opinion that nobody asked for.

If you're talking to me I don't think there's any way Kimbo took a dive. I think he fights with honor. I respect the man. He's hard as nails. Anyone can get beat. No shame.

Yeah been reading about that since Sunday when Seth got on the radio. 

It's not like it matters, if ANYTHING they tried to fix it in Kimbo's favor, and he got knocked out, so I really don't know why anyone cares.

If a fight is not on the up and up for any reason it's news. And it's also news if promoters try to fix things. It speaks poorly of the sport.

I am sure they offered more bonus for a knockout than for a submission, but big deal....

The part that pisses me off the most is how that fucking slimeball Dana White slithered his way into the story by warning everybody about how his competitor organisation is muddying the waters of the sport.

If I had a dime for every lowlife scumball trick that Dana White has pulled on both the fighters, and the public over the years I could retire a rich man. 

I would really like to fight Dana White.  I would like to fight him in his own octagone, I would like to predict beforehand that I will break his left shoulder and his 3rd rib from the bottom on his right side. 

When its over, and the damage is done, what would he say to people that would be claiming a fix?

Fuck the UFC.  They fucked up the sport.  Pride was doing it correctly without all of that Nevada athletic commision (also fight fixers)crap.  How many refs over the years in boxing have been paid off by Don King or the Nevada State Athletic comission?  And Dana White knows nothing of corruption.....yeah right.

Big John Mccarthy has stopped more fights with little or no reason (fixes paidoff to that scumbag Swat team officer) than anyone in the sport today that refs.  But he is still the most used ref by Dana White for the main events.  Do people think that if the UFC allows night after night of boring fights that it will make money?  Or will it go out of business?  Or will it just influence the fights for more action and bigger PPV tickets?

If I see you Dana White I'm a gonna gitcha you fuck:(

I actually read a really interesting article about a year or two ago comparing the officiating and judging in Pride and the UFC. 

It came to the conclusion that Pride had far better officials (thye played less outcome on the fight) but far worse judges (they judged based on whole fights instead of rounds).  But when it came to scoring fights, Pride officials had so many more contradictions than the UFC judges did it was really interesting.  They brought up a lot of extremes from both sides (UFC fights scored 30-27, 30-27 28-29 for example, how does only one judge give TWO ROUNDS to somebody else?!)

Plain and simple officiating and judging aren't regulated enough and the qualification process is almost non-existant.  Until that whole mess is settled there'll be a lot of complaining just like there is now.

By far the referee's I respect most are Big John (glad he's coming back) and Shamata (although he sure lets people get their faces bashed in sometimes).

I respect your opinion, but Big John is a steroid freak, just like all of those LAPD guys are.  Especially swat guys.

I have no respect for John Mccarthy, I personally do not think that he is a good ref.

He always seems more interested in stopping a fight for the fighters own protection.  That is pussyish.  I mean this is supposed to be a gladiator sport.  The fights were better before Big John entered the picture.  And if you are charging me 4000 bucks for a ringside seat at a UFC match, I could give a flying shit about the fighters longevity or health.  And I am a retired pitfighter myself.  I found when there was no octagone, gloves, refs, or rules(except no biting).

As far as why the pride refs score differently, that is because they score points for improving a position when on the ground, who is the dominating fighter, and also for who scores more takedowns or power shots.  Even blood scores points in Pride.  But over in Japan, there are many, many forms of combative arts, and everybody and there grandmother is raised to appreciate the martial art in itself.  Honor is big over there.  Shit talking and fight promoting with tv and internet is how it is done here.  Then fucking Dana white buys pride, kills it, and then takes some of the mediocre fighters to bring back to the usa to be champions.(Rampage???)

All of the greats of pride, are now at the age of retirement, and Dana white killed pride so that no new foreign stars could have a platform for success without his involvement, or John Mccarthy stopping fights early for Dana so he can just schedule a rematch, and sell all of the tickets again.  Why fight once really hard, when you can get a guaranteed double payday with the help of a crooked businessman, and a law breaking cop.

I have rolled with many, many LAPD guys.  They are all on juice.  All of them.  Especially SWAT guys.

I say kill all the politicians, lawyers, and re-ferries.

Personally I don't think an individuals use of steroids should be grounds to judge anything else about them, or as something to look scornfully on but that's a whole different debate.  (And no my lightweight ass isn't taking steroids, I have a hard enough time staying within reach of 150).

And I understand your point of view because I train with guys who share the same "back in my day" elitist rationale.  I got into MMA as a sport and I approve of the transformations that have lead it to become recognized as one.  Sure it's further away from a "real fight" then it used to be (I just watched Joe Son vs. Keith Hackney for example, submission by ball punches anybody?)  but that was necessary for it to be recognized as sport instead of brutality.  I don't agree with all the regulations to protect fighters (such as not hitting the back of the head, not kneeing on the ground in most states, ect) but I do understand WHY they were implemented.

The "refs" don't score fights, even in Pride.  Judges do.  And they don't necessarily score different things (although they do score submissions at a far higher worth than UFC judges do) the thing over there was waiting until the whole fight was over and then picking a winner of the fight.  It's a well known psychological phenominon that people pick up and remember the first and last parts of something they see without as much recognition to what happens in between, if it were a few years ago I could tell you what this effect was called but either way I believe that influenced descisions in many Pride fights.

Now you're back to bantering about LAPD and steroids and I'm just not going there.
