Can limestone straight from a cliff be used the same as limestone grit, if
it is crushed into a fine powder first?

A 20 pound sack of ground limestone from Home Depot or Lowes is only a few bucks. 6T :tongue:

An extremely rough idea can be determined by disolving the lime stone in HCL and weighing the residue.This will give you an aproximate silica content.A look at geological surveys can tell you if it's dolomitic(contains Mg) or pure Ca CO3.But as was stated a bag of lime is next to nothing and you know what you get,hell you can even get food grade lime for pickling at the grocery! All my local stores carry hydrated and dolomite both not what i want. But food grade lime sounds good. off to the store.
