Ah, that explains it.  Typical know-it-all noob.  We get a few thousand just like you register here every year.  They try a few grows, fail miserably and then after a few months or one bad trip, go back to sniffing glue, never to be seen again.

We have a basic pf tek that's idiot proof enough for noobs to get fucked up with their friends.

Mycologists on the other hand grow for the love of growing.  They want to experiment with various species, substrates, and fruiting environments. They'll move on to isolate strains, attempt hybridization, and in general treat cultivation as an artform, rather than a chore that must be performed as a means to an end.  They'll work twice as hard for a ten percent gain, just for the love of perfection.  These are the ones who will isolate strains, not the dumb fucks who treat mushrooms as a drug, or even worse, a pathogen, as if mushrooms cause disease.

...your best bet is to cut it, and let it re-grow. that hair is dead

Tis the truth. Everything I've read about this in the past said that once hair gets used to growing dreaded style the only way to go back to normal is to cut it off. Especially if it's growing dreaded right at the base of the scalp.

Not to mention dreaded hair grows slower, so you really should cut it off to promote the new growth. Don't be a pussy it'll grow back :P

and, it'll be much healthier. But, you aren't going to get em out pickin at it lol

I am living proof that one need not cut their hair to rid themselves of dreads!!!!!!!

I combed out many of my dreadlocks.

I used a comb with two different widths of teeth, and heavy leave in conditioner. It did take some time, a few months, but it really worked.

Work from the ends, and gently untease them...no shit. Attempt very minute portions as to avoid tearing the hair too much. You will find a lot of the bulk of your hair will come out...(as well as dead skin etc...eeeewww...haha.)

I did not comb out all my dreadlocks. But this was a style decision rather than laziness...I put the fuckers in, and I can damn well take them out if I please.

I now have straight normal hair on top, and dreads underneath, they are very long now, passed my waist. I decided to comb the top layer so that if I chose to, I could conceal them...

Hm...maybe I should add some photographic evidence...

It definitely CAN be done.
