As weiliiiiii said, WOW those Ganodermas are amazing! There are so many incredible fungi in Mexico, thanks so much for sharing them with us cactu.

Ahhh, the mutants, so cool. They do look a lot like deformed Psilocybe zapotecorum.

That waterfall is stunning too.

i find it amazing how mushrooms grow out of the ground in your climate... when i think of psilos i think cubensis, cyans, libs they usually have a "un natural" source of nutrients (cow shit, woodchips, old sheepshit). but in the south of mexico all these ancient looking species grow out of clay walls and on the floor of the forested area. do you know why this is cactu?

gracias tripsis .  the mutant  are close  to  zapotecorum at least that what we know .

the psilocybe zapotecorum is the most large specie in the genus psilocybe , as  guzman said in his monograf , i had the pleusure to see this in this zapotecorum and from the psilocybe caerulescens from oaxaca that may be var. carulescens , as guzman said  i have no see other  mushrooms so big some in the coordispora section are  big as villarealae , weillii, as already said carulescens var caerulescens , and of course  cubensis . but i have never seem so big stems or bigs cap as zapotecorum ..

this specimens where quite  big , yes weilliiii
here is guzman quote

all psilocybe are soprophite mushrooms , mean they need organic compounds to grow , some psilocybe are primary or second decomposer , all primary as the woodlover  , can act sometimes as secondary decomposer or viceversa, some second decomposer can act as primary decomposer .

all psilocybe love wood to grow there in no one that i have  study that does not ,except of course the dung lovers ,wood is the basic element for  many mushrooms to survive some use the ligning or other use cellulose or both , you see this ones growing from the ground  since this mushrooms  loves some sort of decomposition of the wood that take place underground ,so this mushroms need some bacteria or a casing of clay  to survive , why clay  is been  my question , since long is only now that ian trying to discover new things , will the help of people that have grow this mushroms as prankter239 and workman i beging to see many thing this mushrooms dont grow as easy  in artificial condition, why ? , why they grow in landslide, why the mud,
one day it hit me ,  this mushrooms are extremely  potend  i may say some of the most potend in the world , you will see in few years. where do they get all the  fosforous to  integrate to the molecule , it hit me clay is a good source of fosforous , and only bacteria and mushrooms can fix it in the soil , so what we need to do is to study that bacteria or other mushrooms that help zapotecorum to survive, they thrive in a very especific area , they are very picky about the habitad, but is the buried wood the answer........my friend good to see you around here  my deep  best vibration to you  wowitch17........

haha! man i knew i could count on you to give a good and thorough response. That would make total sense to have a bacteria up in those clay walls freeing up nutrients for the psilos.... and it would explain for the potency that is proven by your awesome reponses and understanding of this genus

you know Enpo , mushrooms have open a new world to me, and they have give me that idea , not really be a chef but how bad i was missing to use mi senses , the smell, the flavour, the combinations  of spices, vegetables , is incredible, and to know what to add to fell it , is unique iam starting to fell it, , to smell a mushrooms and figure out with what goes well, , it help that i trained for many years , and i usually add no aditives to my mushrooms, and now i begging to add few ingredient, make mixes , fell like a chef , is spectacular , also mushrooms have lot glutamic acid ,  they intensified all the  flavours , is up to you what you  want to intensified , to disminuesh , to combine, is like being a chemist, a chemicalbiological chef , haha , is all there..

i deliver my mushrooms to few restaurants, i dont know  how they prepared then really but sometimes i give advise to the chefs i show all my pictures of the mushrooms i cook in my hunts. the ones iam very pround is the  hypomyces ala cream with chille chipotle , that  really a good combination, lactarius indigo in chineese food in soya sauce real good , ramaria cream, lactarius indigo a la mexicana , but really all goes well ala mexicana.

i also guees  that to eat mushrooms is an art , if you where not trained in you childhood  is not likely  you will love the mushrooms the first time unless you eat amanita caesarea or other of the glutamic booms mushrooms that are a explosion of flavour and all brains fall for that rush ..still can not find one mortal that does not . but the other species have diferent tates, to adapt , to recognice, take sometime to the brain to educate, your stomach , but now is like  i have vision , and i literary said it vision, depending of the good the food is, once i mush on a mushroms and i like it , my imagination fly  create a new world , does any of you have fell that ?  iam getting crazy? is that is it for cactu ?, jaja , well before 2 years ago i ate some lactarius indigo and i fell  they where bitter some how, now i can not recall that exact flavour , and can not make a bad meal of it, i don`t know , that why i guees is something you have to developed, to create to integrate and to fell, i dont fell that imaginery  with other foods , only with mushrooms or perhaps are the mushroms that are showing me that new world is amazing how many thing i have learn from mushroms, since they are related to every thing all come for adquisition.

cantarellus  sp.

boletus russellii

psilocybe villarealae

Ramaria botrytis i wish i could isolate the smell of this mushrooms and that dont evaporate while cooking so fragant,

lactarius indigo ahora sin flash

auricularia  sp.

russula brevipes

helvella crispa, cantarellus sp., auricularia sp.

the food

the result  i add onions, and soya sauce a bit of a oil with chilli  and half of a orange , the combination was great for my atonishmend , the idea of the recipe came for all the ingredient i have in the house at the time and i fell ike it since all the time i have eat auricularia  alone they taste like water so i wanned  to add a bit of flavou wth the chilli oil and the orange and the soya sauce. i know the chant taste good but their flavour is not so big to expand to the other  helvella taste good alone like  meat so i bet the soy will intensified their flavour . so the result was quite good with some purple cabash and  few germinated alfalfa and a line of yougourt with carrots, hmmm . hmmm . real good. i guess i have never take so much picture at food as in this rainy seasom i will make a thread later on i guess....:loveeyes:

the hypomyces are back , beware russulas :hehehe:

men theis tylopilus are big , real big all of then

i dont even bother to id agaricus any more i either  print then or eat then ,

well  not a good picture but check this "zapotecorum"  nipple .....

the zapotecorum , well they dont disapear their are one of the firt to apear and one of the last , they open and close the seasom and non stop dancing :tripping:.

the zapo  so beaty ! this are the pin in past picture that my friend  discover after moving some leaves.

thank you Dizzwizzle .

Beege gracias , yes the cartilaginous texture of auricularia  is great ....the first time i eat then i fell funny eat then  a texture i was not use to..

landsnorkler thanks man , i really learn a lot from you , and by the way  you should try some new things , from time to time , :mushroom2: this year had been my year of search, and I'm finding lots in all areas...best year so far maybe we can past the last year record after all is the new Maya year ....if we past October will be terrific .looking forward to November  :chew: ...

the wind of change , are here , i`m felling , the first cold front are hitting  but that only means more rain, but for sure the day are getting shooter this few day a change in the position of the sun was felt more , you could fell now the cold , of the fall, the season change, and the mushrooms change , stay, end , and begins, all the orchestra is still playing , the most beautiful notes are left always to the end.............

the trees....  what will be of the forest without then , the trees and the mushrooms are one,all the forest is one , maybe we can become one with  it too.......

the mushrooms so criticized in the past as a pest by the in cult mens , and worship by the believers...

still mushrooms  today are something strange, something rare, every day  we make more the division  between mushrooms and mens more narrow  ...

understanding the basic founding of life ,some day we gonna realize we are dealing with an organism , that is way superior to us  that have  years of evolution ahead to us
the purpose of the design is something we are beginning to understand , nature knows..
the medicine is one of the fields where the mushrooms come in place . there is a hole few world of drugs to discover if we think most of the mushrooms are still unknown .

take for example this mushroom the reaction  of  green bruising takes place so fast....

in the year we got for coming some death  may appear as  appear before,

but  now is more easy to give a new light to the death

there`s an open window  for we can do  with mushrooms ..

mushrooms will and can take over your house is you are not prepare

the smell of mushrooms  is something you could not forget,i will show my child how the roses smell, but also how a bouquet of black trumpet smell......

trompete do lemur, diria un frances. there is no death in this mushrooms i should say , trompeta del amor seria mi nombre..

with some  only with few you could fell the fragrance but with other a handful is needed.

the oddities of mushrooms ... if all have a meaning ?....

is this meaning to be ..

what`s the porpoise of colors ?

what`s the color mushrooms don`t resemble?......

los dias de verano are gone , the fall is coming strong ...

thank you guys Weilii Nelson and sprout70 .....:)

the last dance !.
time of reflextion , understanding,  and dreams .  time to cultivate , to  study , to read , to stop  for a while, to go back to the soil as a micelium that wait.
:sunny:
gotta said it, this year, was the best, it is still ..

i acomplish  some of mi biggest dreams , i was before the mushrooms , i see the exact day they where coming out i could register  that in notes, days, pictures, experientation and gourment food, the vast knolehge i collect this year is amazing i have now more time to really recapitulate  more  all........., i found  and understud a bit more about the mushroms in my area , the habitad they prefer, the incredible  ability they have to dominate in few day  and disapear in other , i am  happy , so happy to say i was there , i thank to the gods , since without their help i could not have acomplish this, let me tell you a visit 6 diferent sierras and was impress to find a complete armony in my find  i mean i could notice when i made a bad decision to go to a place early or late, and i fell was the coordination was espectacular, next year i could program my hunting in a better , and refine way , i can hunt for a speciefic especies in diferent areas in diferent times of the seasom , that for me is something only the experience, could give you , not the book  or knoleghe  i mean that you must read to do the other, if your work is not related to study  mushroms is dificult to that you can be constantly  in  the same areas  in the  hole season , for me this job is one of the greatest  job in my life, i will try to writhe down all the information  that has been given to me, hope that maybe now things are drying a bit can have some time  .

no one  post  pictures from mexico  still in the shrooery to often to make the wonderfull  diversity of this country  more representative, i may be the only one that try and few others , as airdog ,  but  how i wish people  from every state could post pictures  of mushrooms, this country have it all, people from a town call senguio  michoacan , said they have all the mushrooms in the world there .
i dare to say in all the  diferent microclimates and little corners and hididing places of mexico , if you can search in all thoseplaces you can found it all .
i hunt, in and area of mexico that is like 5% of the wood land territory, the importance  of more micologist  in mexico is vast.

a big aplausee  for the Mexican season  that is about  to go :congrats:.....
