Credit Card Question

Last month I paid $500 of my $850 balance for my credit card.  This month I retain the leftover balance and was charged interest on the amount left unpaid from the previous month.

Can I just keep that balance there, and keep being charged interest on it, without repercussions?  As in, not having my credit affected negatively.  If so that would be amazing...I definitely can't pay that right now.

Credit cards are a recipe for disaster. Sorry, don't know the answer to your question, I try to steer clear of credit.

no. you have to continue paying, if only the minimum due.

over 30 days late gets reported to the credit bureaus.

I don't think that's the case at all. If you pay your minimum every month I think your credit score stays the same. It's building interest, but that doesn't affect you otherwise, as far as I know. Don't take my word for it. :mikemcdonald:

At the very least pay your minimum if you care about your credit score. Paying the minimum does nothing to better your situation though.  Attack principal every chance you can and try to stay away from credit if possible.

Haha true that.  I really hope our economy comes crashing down for some reason.  I don't know, just seems like it would make things nice and interesting.

Yeah, definitely going to pay that minimum and probably more.  I initially got the card to build credit, and that has been working out fine for 2 years or so (I am 20 and have awesome credit, wooo!) but this month some unexpected shit came up.

Well it's something us Americans have to have in order to get things we desire. But I say fuck it, since they screwed me over at the age of 18. I took my dad to the hospital a few times and somehow... because I was the family member present and we have such similar names, they charged his several thousand dollar bill to me unknowingly. When I turned 20 and tried to get a credit card, that was the first time I'd found out. Now my credit score has imploded and they keep giving me the run around about fixing it. I just stopped caring.

When ever the interest kicks in thats when I transfer the balance over to a credit card that offers 0% APR on balance transfers so I never pay interest and just keep doing that then cancel the bastard, but I keep one for emergencies.

dont stop caring, demand 'validation of debt' from the
creditor, they shouldnt have any of your info on file unless
it's as next of kin, contact TRW, Equifax and Experian and
contest the invalid information, fixing your credit is easy
and there's no need for lawyers, services and all the other
bullshit, just understand that it cant be done over the phone
handle everything in writing, send it registered mail
