It had bad third party driver support at launch and got a horrible reputation. It's totally fine now though. I wouldn't even think of going back to XP.

I have a friend who got a laptop with vista free, and after a couple of months went and spent the money to replace it with XP.  He hated it that much.

I have pretty much no functional problems with vista.  But, I'm switching over to ubuntu in a few days because it is so much cooler, and free.

i have no problems running vista 64 on my laptop. i have 4 gigs of ram though, so memory is not an issue.

if i were to switch operating systems, it would be to ubuntu. i have XP on my netbook and it looks so old. i like my OS to be flashy :awesome:

Vista doesn't really have anything that XP doesn't already have... and that should be reason for anyone not to switch, but there's also the fact that Vista is bloated and runs poorly on all but the best hardware.

Vista stinks like WinME did (I never upgraded to that one, either). Some fancy new graphics seems to be all Microsoft needs to push out their latest OS. They are probably paid off from the hardware manufacturer's, too, as it forces anyone silly enough to want to use it into getting an upgrade.
