RIP toby dog
    #8990270 -

Our dog just passed today. 6 year old chocolate lab. Don't have any pics handy at the moment..

He was a good dog. Always happy, always friendly.

(We think) he got into something poisonous like 2 weeks ago, he was was acting really funny, very lethargic.. would barely eat or drink anything.. was puking stuff up, white junk coming out of his eyes. He crawled down away from the house and we found him lying in a creek in the woods.. supposedly to die. We took him to the vet, they kept him for 4 days, gave him all sorts of tests and medicine and whatnot.. they couldn't find the cause, thought it was diabetes but it was something else.

Took him home last week, we thought he was getting better but then he just took a turn for the worse. Couldn't move more than to crawl or lift his head and wag his tail, breathing very erratic.. been doing everything we could for him but he just got worse and worse the past 2 days. Took his last breath about 20 minutes ago, at least he's not suffering anymore.

RIP Toby dog, you will be missed

We don't even know. The vet couldn't figure it out... wanted to put him down like 3 days ago but my roommate didn't want to suffer the bill :nonono: It was technically his dog so he had to make the call...  And he thought/was hoping he might get better.. but alas, it wasn't meant to be. I just wish he hadn't suffered his last couple days like that :frown:

That's been our best guess. But the vet said usually a sign of anti-freeze is convulsions and shit, there wasn't much of that. He also had a small lesion on the back of his leg when we took him to the vet.. which when we took him home had actually GROWN like 5 times the size and was down in the deep tissue.. we didn't know WTF could cause that, except I guess perhaps a really deadly spider or snake or something..

Yeah, but it wasn't from our yard unless he got into something in a neighbor's yard or something, we don't leave open containers of antifreeze laying around or anything.. still.. it sucks they couldn't figure out what the problem with him was. $1000 in vet bills, a dead dog and no answers..

My sincere condolences Shroomism. Losing a 6 year old dog is hard, definitely was too early for a lab to die. You could be right in that he ate something bad, could be liver or kidney failure. im sure the vet tested for heartworm and other parasites.

Good vibes your direction, I hope things get on the up and up for you and yours

The problem with kids these days is that they just don't respect drugs.

It's one of the worst feelings in the world when a dog can barely move, but it'll still look at you and wag it's tail.  I'm sorry.
