google is promoting a project to help the people of earth. they promise to fund 10 million to 5 projects that better earth. does anyone have any ideas?

i think this is really cool of google...i wanna work there

Spend $10 million on compact fluorescent light bulbs (at a huge discount of course) and provide them to families around the country.

My thinking is that it will spread the idea to those people that they really do cut down on power consumption. Once those families have one CFL, they are extremely likely to buy more for their home. Add that up with the millions of people that receive a free bulb and the impact could be massive.

Think of the power savings and emission reduction with providing that many light bulbs to families.

... Just an Idea I had when American Express did their little event where they would provide $5 million to someone who had the best plan for reducing environmental impact or something like that.

Same thing happened to me when I played Neil Armstrong in Moonshot. They found me in an alley in Burbank trying to re-enter the earth's atmosphere in an old refrigerator box.

I think the point was to really aim towards advancing third world countries. My idea would have to do with some health issues, like nets for housing, or proper nutrition

Use renewable energy, and recycle 100% of of non-renewable energy.  Stop the use of fossil fuels and make them illegal.  (These steps would obviously be taken gradually, but they must be done if there is a future for life on earth.)

Yeah, I didn't really read the project and once I posted my idea, I kinda realized that it wouldn't fit too well.

Another one is I read an article a few months ago about a company that designed small paper and wood burning stoves specifically designed for 3rd world refugee camps. The way it works is it provides an amazing amount of heat from a very low amount of fuel.

They were making them for something like around $15 a piece. It's great because it will allow people to cook food, warm themselves, and sterilize water (which that alone could save countless people). And it would cut down on respiratory diseases from people still using fires in their shelters and homes to cook food and heat with no ventilation.

I'll see if I can find a link.
