In case anyone wonders: today the signatures of around 100 users were edited to comply with various policies at the shroomery.
Around 180 users were notified via PM around 2 months ago that they should change the signature, and those 100 failed to do so until today.

I suggest doing likewise to avatars which have pictures of corpses or graphic pictures of diareha or dismemberment  in them. They are repulsive and not a benefit to the community in any way. It's also the reason I had to turn off the avatar option and I miss all the cool avatars so I won't have to look at bloody pictures of traumatic death or decomposing bodies.

that would be lame as hell to limit what is in avatars. i have yet to see anything that would offend me, and if i did i would have the option of turning it off like u said. so dont cry :grin:

Key wording, "offends me... We have to do our best to please everyone without being to harsh on rules.

But this is a world community with so many different beliefs, values, etc... So how fair is it then for one person to post a disturbing avatar that offends a great deal of users.. To take that even further, how fair is it to tell that person to turn of 'view avatars' because of one person?

well who is to be the judge of what offends a great deal of users? although im sure it would be the admins (which is right if anyone is to make the decision) I just dont think it would be fair or plausible to individually filter all the avatars. Like you said there are many cultures and beliefs so how would one admin decide what is appropriate? I vote to leave things the way they are and those who dont like it can deal. Obviously this is within common sense. PIctures of rape or that sort of thing should be banned but not things like my skull or a guy taking a shit or whatever else. Just my opinion, dont rip into me too hard. :grin:

I agree, there is little I've ever seen that has truly offended people. I mean PGF has this dead woman picture, but its just stupid and I haven't heard anybody be offended by it. He's just hoping to be the rebel, and nobody even notices the avatar anyways.

The neat thing about a community is that if someone crosses the line it sparks debate and action... So yeah admins make decisions, but we admins base our decisions on the community's vibe most often than not.. Very rarely are decisions made that haven't been thoroughly discussed amongst people here.
