Having a hot woman as an avatar doesn't make you a hot woman, so why would having a 'blue ball' as an avatar make me have blue balls?

You could have done a much better psychoanalysis than that. Avatars are a visual aid to an online persona; after a while you begin to associate that image with a certain poster. Now people don't just choose any old image for an avatar, they take the time to pick something that represents how they want their online persona to come across.

You might just simply put an image as your avatar, but that choice of image actually says quite a lot about the type of person you are; because its how you want to represent yourself on the internet.

And no, I don't think I'm reading too far into this :grin:.
