Cold shocking question!

I just read about storing your jars in the fridge over night after your medium is colonized. What does this do? Is it a good idea?

Cold shocking to induce pinning is very common, in fact my monkey does a cold shock/dunk prior to birthing 12-15 hours or so. The cold will not hurt if that is your question.

Yes, it is a good idea, it does no harm to do this.
Put whatever substrate in a clean ziplock, to keep it safe from contams.
Cold shocking is just that, it shocks the mycelium into thinking the the weather has turned, so the mycelium goes into fruit mode.

Use the search function at the top of the page, 'cold shock'
