Not for certain, but i'm pretty sure cold shocking would not hurt the pin. Don't go below freezing when you cold shock.

I think the best method is just sticking the casing or whatever in a refrigerator, if you don't have room, if you have a freezer you can use just adjust the temp into the 40's or so. I wouldn't put the ice inside, but laying a big bag of ice across the top might work.

Another thing you could try ( someone else suggested this to me awhile ago but I don't remember who) get some of those freezer packs that you put in ice chests ancd put them aroud the sides of your terrarium.It worked for me. Now I just shock my jars for 24 hours prior to birthing.

There are some species of shrooms that too drastic of a cold shock would cause aborts. But if you are speaking of a type of cubensis then NO. In fact I find that after cold shocking, if you keep the temp in the low 70s (with B+ anyway), then they grow much slower but are way more potent.
