humidity/dunk cold shock question

im using both perlite and misting for humidification, and my humidor guage is only reading 70 and im having some delayed pinning. im wondering if i should continue being patient or if i should pull them out and dunk/cold shock? i have 24 cakes and 4-5 of them have had a decent first flush but all the others show no signs of wanting to catch up. thanks

get the humidity up to 90-100 and you should be getting there.

Is the container sealed enough to allow for a build up of humidity? Also, is the perlite wet, and if so is there enough for the size of the chamber?

If you're using Perlite and you're using it right, you have no need to mist as well. The fact that your humidity gauge is steady at 70% means one of three things.
1) Perlite will take some time to fully humidify a grow chamber, especially a large one. Once it does however, the RH will stay very close to 100% taking into account the water you add when the level gets low. The fact that you've had a first flush on 4-5 cakes makes me doubt that this is your problem.
2)Your using a shity humidity gauge. (one bought at a pet shop?)
3)Your terrarium is not sealed.
I'd recommend a digital hygrometer ($25 at a cigar shop) and a cold dunk, or double ended casing. For my buddy, double ended casings yield better flushes, though that's just in his experinece.

Sounds like your gauge is broken. If you got one of those cheap 3 dollar ones from Wal-Mart, then take it back and get a new one. Personally, I got sick and tired of get defected Wal-Mart gauges and just bought the digital hum. for 15 bucks.
