Thats not true.

Again... completly untrue.

Ok, good point. And I did get that from your post. However I'm quite medicated
So before I get to that VVV let me also say that while we have so much opportunity. We face huge, seeingly insurmountable challanges with everything from energy production to food, medicine, and transport. Which again comes back to our suicidal quest for energy. That, because of the way things are currently "must" continue.

Enough of that though, back on topic. IMO.
I'm often struck by those feelings as well. Sometimes those feelings can be overwhelming. In a good way.... Example.I think about all the series of combination's of ppeople. All the gestation, flirtation and procreation that led to my birth. And my place here and now. So many events and twists and turns. Oh how lucky I am to be here at all

It's absolutely mind blowing. And one of the many reasons that to me personally...This is it. And far as "heaven" goes, we get to experience consciousness.

That's our chance at heaven, bliss, friendship and meaning.
I see my time alive as almost "divine".

Well what a shock coming from you.
Care to back up everything YOU claimed about my statements.

So D.C. tell us all the state of the plaent. And I'm sure you will do a much better job then Sir David Attenborough, NewScientist.com and any other book, website, or reference I mention.

So please, explain what's REALLY HAPPENING?
Are most of the world's fisheries still ok?
What about air pollution? Is it getting much better?
In Canada children's asthma goes up 10% every 10 years.
From 1980-1990 and 1990-2000. In fact it's a little more. 13% for boys I believe and 10% for girls.
So lets just say at least 10%.
(Before you even ask The David Suzuki Fondation, google it yourself champ)

Please educate me. Educate us all.

Something for people to look at while we are waiting.
Not the best for just environmental stuff. But a great indicator overall of where various societies seem to be currently....in terms of human development, rights, sustainability, energy use etc.....

So I'll check in later for your "amazing" responses. Complete with references. Because all of our ecosystems are in decline. And we have caused the 6th great extinction to start.

But hey, who reads only brain dead hippies and commies I would guess.
If I had made bold claims the onus would be on me. But what I said is accepted scientific fact IMO.
So the onus is on you to prove me wrong.

If you can't do that, I'll dig up references, I'll even look trough some bookmarks! (gasp!)

I read something interesting that proposed the theory that littering everywhere we go is man's actual nature; it's kinda what animals do; it's just how we are as humans and we almost can't help it.  The problem is WHAT we're littering...in the wild it would just be droppings, carcasses and fruit piths; that type of thing, all organic stuff that decomposes easily as we leave it wherever we go.

Well, we still leave shit wherever we go, but now it's material we've created with our big brains that does not go away so easily.  It is being "tool savvy" combined with a disconnection from Nature that is causing the problem.  Now if only we could become 'tool conscious' and harmonize our use of tools with our environments...

Plus, because we are aware that we will die, humans naturally have a trend towards creating stuff that "lives forever."  Unfortunately this is ultimately destructive to the balance of species on the planet.  Why are we so afraid to die, and have our tools die out with us?

I believe it is definitely doable to live as more Nature-harmonized tool users, with our big human brains.

People just have to wake up.

I don't want to sound uppity or mean. But as far as I can tell, most people of above average intelligence have already... Sure disagreements on how much is too much, what should we cut back on. But the idea of a slowdown is in the cards one way or another. Eventually whether it's though conscious choice, or something forced upon us...Wars, resource crash, fuel shortages....etc.

But hey, that number for "what if ever person used what the average American uses"(*wastes consumes etc) keeps going up.

But let's not worry about it, a few recycled boxes and CFL light bulbs will even everything out.

Yes, you're right.  People ARE waking up.  More and more I notice it happening.  People are realizing as a species that it's CHANGE or DIE.

Tick-Tock.

I waited for a bit. And I'm busy,...well I SHOULD be...

So I have to do the "right" thing, and log off.

I'll be back later to see your responses. Complete with factual references of course.

Damn straight. I don't think it's all light green environmentalism either. You know...like sticking a "shop organic" sticker on a massive SUV. Sure those people are around, and I meant to mention that already, but there is a deeper conscious awareness of our situation arising.

People like DieCommie can make all the attempts at being detached and nonchalant they want, the fact is this information is moving faster then ever. And what happens to bad info, over the years? It's scrapped. And what doesn't stand up to science is tossed aside.

That's what always bugs me about guys like DC, they often clearly don't take an interest in science. And yet they expect they'll start talking about global warming and suddenly everyone will treat them as if they had recently completed a degree in atmospheric science.

I'm going to send you PM later with some info and cool stuff I don't want to share on the open boards.

Anyway... I need a toke, and a sandwich.
Peace
:snowman::bongload:

Eventually, the situation will reach a point where it's every man (or woman) for themselves.

I'm "further" then the average person right now.:sheesha::thumbup:
I'll tell you that.... That was not a statement about income or intelligence.
Though I do have a bit of both.
Uhh, less of the former though

I was actually thinking that it might be man's uncanny ability to utilise tools that might be our downfall.  We've accomplished all we've done at a certain point in our evolution.  What if some other species became self aware at a certain point, but had to evolve way beyond that before they could become a civilization?  Like, say dolphins or something.  If, hypothetically, in millions and millions of years they evolved the capacity to create civilization, they would almost certainly be better suited to survive as a species, because it would be at an even more mentally advanced point in their evolution.

This reminds me of an episode of the simpsons

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense I just took a few rips from a glass on glass quadruple perculator custom made 5 foot bong.
