We Live in the Future
    #8861284 -

This is going to sound bizarre...but for the past several months I have seriously felt like our society and planet is a futuristic civilization.  I'm sitting here on my laptop, listening to animal collective, in a society that has accomplished amazing feats of science and technology, and I just feel like this is an incredible time to be living in.  When you analyze the past several decades within a complete anthropological context, it's really amazing what we are experiencing right now.

Maybe this is one of those thoughts that won't translate well over typing, I'm not sure.

Under closer inspection I realised it was a funky ball of tits from outer space.

Yeah, I don't really know how to phrase it.  Like, I imagine if there was a novel describing life as it is today that people in the 16th century could read, that would be so mindblowing.  I know that's stupid and obvious but I'm stoned and I felt like sharing.

I don't think this actually means we're living in the future, it just means we're making progress.

To what end, who knows? I'd love to live another couple thousand years to watch and find out though.

If we achieve negligible senescence, then who knows...maybe you will.

Ya. As 'futuristic' as the present may sound, its not nearly as futuristic as the future will be.

Besides.. where the hell are my flying cars?!

If we are to base out ideas of the future from science fiction and imagination, our current world is still pretty damn primitive. Which is the way i tend to look at things. The internet for example is still in its early stages. So is space travel, so is virtually everything. Besides cellphones maybe.

Dr :ronpaul: says to stop trying to treat the side-effects of big government and focus on the core issues. End the Federal Reserve/audit the gold reserves at Fort Knox, abolish the IRS, end all wars and occupancies, stop the building of an empire that will inevitably fail, and cut all unconstitutional federal programs. Put the power back in the peoples' hands by ending this nanny-state.

Look where we could be though.

$1 trillion spent on the war on terror, imagine if we bought that in research and other shit.  We'd be colonizing another planet.

time and space are illusions.  everything that has, is, and will happen is all happening at the same time.  for every decision you make, there is a parallel universe that exists where you made a different decision.  this is true for every second of every person's life that ever has and will exist.  the same can be said for all other beings, not just earthlings.  wrapping your head around that will give you a glimpse into your infinite and eternal nature.

now back to the bong.

I don't mean to be nitpicky but that sounds sort of speculative.  How are time and space illusions again?  They might be relative, but they aren't illusions.

we are still so primitive
our species is still at the beginnings of its intellectual capacity
if we keep making laws like banning stem cell research we will stay this way for some time
