Horse poo pulling away
    #880892 -

My buddy has this tray of past. horse poo spawned with a brf cake. The poo is about 70% colonised but it appears to be pulling away from the side of the tray. My buddy said he pasturized some more poo today and was thinking about pouring it in the void. Should I tell him to go, or should he do something else? Thanks in advance.

I don't think putting in more would be a good idea at this point.

You can let it fully colonize.....then add casing material to fill the gaps.

Ha, road, funny you should reply cause my buddy is actually following your tek, right on. By casing material, do you suggest my buddy using the past. poo, or do you recommend using maybe a 50/50+ mix.

No I wouldn't suggest using more horse poo now...I'd hate to see you get a contam now.

I'd let it colonize out all the way.....then shove casing material down along the gaps in the sides.

50/50 with oyster shells or Verm/Coco coir.....what ever you wanna use.

You can get a better pin set if you case the whole thing.

Enjoy the poo!

50/50 to me means coir with verm.
I`d never use potting soil anyway.

In reply to:

When most people talk about 50/50 they are refering to this mix.

50/50 is >> 50% peat moss and 50% vermiculite

The 50/50 I read was potting soil/verm

But whatever, I don`t use it anyway.
I use coir/verm/oyster shell

Even just straight damp verm for the sides will work fine

Yes it will work, but not as well as the mixture we suggested.

Thanks for all the responses, yeah 50/50 + (riche hawk's recipe) has worked in the past for my buddy, but here's the question of the hour. After the poo has colonized and the 50/50+ is added, does my buddy allow the 50/50 to colonise as well or does he induce pinning. This question is also directed for what is to be done after a post flush casing, do you leave it in the fruiting chamber, or put it back in the incubation chamber. Thanks

Sorry to bump my own thread, I don't want to seem like a selfish little brat, but in all the info that I have read, I have not found anything about what you are supposed to do after you case colonised spawn, or post flush casing. Incubation or fruiting chamber. Thanks, again.
