Anyone else work it? I do bridge/highway construction it pays pretty damn good and i just started! Any advie about joining a union (ironworkers?)

Usually, the union guy will come to you if the workplace is union, or at least they let you know IME.

dont work in any unions...

be careful that when/if you get fired you may still have to pay your dues...thats what i hear about as far asa con or unions...

unions are no good...really...IMO
and try to do some actual work out there would ya...don't be that a-hole standing there with 6 other guys while 1 guy does all the work...

I've been doing some form of construction for 25 years now.  Been operating equipment for most of that.  I'm pretty comfortable in just about any type of construction equipment and I'll drive any kind of truck on the road (or off, for that matter).  I don't belong to a union.  They really never appealed to me.  But I would join if I had to to get on a good job.  Prevailing wage jobs can make a guy a lot of cash, but they are almost always union shops that are doing them.
