Epic movie scenes that give you chills
    #8738949 -

The ending of Gummo, from the point that 'Crying' by Roy Orbison starts playing until Bunny Boy runs up through the field and holds the dead cat right in front of the camera.  Fucking poetry.

Bad Lieutenant - the scene in the hotel room with the two hookers where the lieutenant is drinking and sobbing uncontrollably while 'Pledging My Love' by Johnny Ace plays in the background.

However, let's not make this just about scenes that are set to music.

Mulholland Drive SPOILER ALERT

- the ending scene where Naomi Watts' character commits suicide.  No matter how many times I watch that movie, I still get really creeped out just thinking about that scene.

The last half an hour of RAN is heartbreakingly gorgeous.

The Kurosawa film?  I haven't seen it.  In fact, the only Kurosawa I've seen is Rashomon.  I'm a noob for not having seen Seven Samurai, I know.

Yeah. RAN is, in my eyes, his masterpiece. It really is shockingly good.

I'd also like to include the orgy scene from Ken Park.

I've been meaning to rent Perfume for awhile now.

Nice thread, I'll have to check out the films I've not seen.

Just off the top of my head:

The scene in 'V for Vendetta' where Natalie Portman is out on the roof in the rain.

Terminator 3, when the nukes start falling and you see all the explosions from space.

The end of Harold and Maude.

'The Tunnel' from Akira Kurosawa's "Dreams"

...to name a few.

Q: Exactly. For that one fraction of a second, you were open to options you'd never considered. That's the exploration that awaits you...not mapping stars and studying nebulae... but charting the unknowable possibilities of existence.

To carry yourself forward and experience myriad things is delusion. That myriad things come forth and experience themselves is awakening. -Dogen Zenji
