Tyvek - Envelopes or Groundcloth, or Housing sheets?

Are tyvek envelopes the best method of obtaining the proper tyvek needed for filters, or would sheets of the housing material be acceptable? what about the ground covers offered on ebay?

just go to the post office you can get tyvek for free. Usually as soon as you walk in you will see the envelopes just grab some.

well the thing is I don't really want to have to make multiple trips, I'd rather buy in bulk so I never have to worry about getting more... ever. Would the housing tyvek work in that case?

(not to mention more whitespace and less ink on those sheets)

yes the stuff that you wrap your house in will work fine.  or you can order some synthetic filter disks from mycosupply.  its what i use.  they are reusable and i think alot more convienant.

the ink on the sheets doesn't matter you can just use the inside of the envelope. if you need the tyvek quick just go to the post office,grab like 5 enveopes, that should be enough. I used barley 2 for 11 jars of WBS. Then order from the place KlowNJugIA recommended that's a great site. If you want housing tyvek will still work. But it makes more sense to not spend any money at all. Good Luck!

i tried that at first but found that they were behind the counter. so i asked the asian guy if i could have some and he got into a whole argument with me about how they were expensive and cost 4 dolla. they cost 4 dolla per envelope. that very expensive.

he then told me to go to walmart and buy some. i was like always low prices eh? course walmart didn't sell em so i had to go to staples...

Seriously people, no better way to bring attention to your self ordering 500 or 800. Why not order 30 or 40 then later down the road order some more. Not only that if people start abusing the free tyvek then they will stop giving them for free. You think they are not going to notice when people are ordering hundreds at a time and they are not going to a business. That link up there should not be live. Every time some one clicks it who ever is webmaster of the postal site can see where traffic is coming from and when you are coming from shroomery.org and ordering 800 it might set off some bells.

Just wanted to give you guys a headsup,  I am glad that link is removed from here, you dont want the federal gov logs showing that you entered their page from a mushroom cultivation thread about tyvek to order tyvek envelopes in HUGE bulk orders FROM the shroomery.

Be careful.  If you intend on doing that go directly to the usps site and order directly from the usps site.
