Mushroom influences paleolithic art?
    #8737757 -

I just came across this picture in the POTM contest:

and it reminded me of this:

The "Venus of Willendorf", c. 25,000-20,000 BCE.

Looks similar? Wouldn't it be crazy if mushrooms like that influenced the paleolithic art? Goes along with the theories that mushrooms sped up human evolution... maybe these paleolithic people had a special thing for mushrooms.
Just a crazy idea :crazy2:

I think paleolithic people took shrooms, but as far as that statue goes, well it's just a big fat naked woman with a kewl hat and a nice vag

Eh, while you will not find many archaeologists that will dispute the use of Mushrooms and other mind manifesting drugs playing a prominent role in the history of man you will be, undoubtedly, hard pressed to find many that feel the Venus statue related to ritualistic mushroom use across Europe.

that is unrelated to mushrooms. it's a figurine of mother earth, the life giver.

I'm not saying the statue is related to the ritualistic use of the mushroom, just saying they look alike and maybe how the mushroom looked influenced the art

its your mind that influences your imagination and helps you make connections between various forms across time & space so anything is possible.
