Re: What is going to be the job u are going to retire from? [Re: Coaster]
    #8724997 -

My wife is going to retire from the school system she works at. She is a treasurer at a middle school.

I on the other hand will prob never retire. Well, i don't want to say that. It's just, i stay at home with the baby and our 7 year old right now, and i work a pizza delivery job at night (I love this job tho). Obviously I'm not going to work there forever, but i have some plans.

I want to buy the rest of the glass blowing equipment i need, and then get alot better. I would love to just sit around blowing glass all day. I have a few good ideas that would set me.

I will most likely get a job doing something like working at version hooking up peoples cable or something like that. I got my dreams, but i also have a family and they gotta be taken care of the best i can right now. Hopefully in the future i will be able to do what i want. Right now tho, I'm happy to be here raising my kids. Fuck daycare.

I will either retire from research or waiting tables depending on how GREs go in Nov.

Umm depends, i doubt i'll ever get bored of composing and performing music although i'm sure my musical direction will change through out the course of my life.

God takes those closest to us, because it makes him feel better about himself. He is a very vengeful God. He's all pissed off about something we did thousands of years ago. He just can't get over it, so he doesn't care who he takes. Children, puppies, it don't matter to him, so long as it makes us sad.

Why does God give us anything?

Look at it this way: if you want to make a baby cry, first you give it a lollipop. Then you take it away. If you never give it a lollipop to begin with, it would have nothin' to cry about. That's like God, who gives us life and love and help just so that he can tear it all away and make us cry, so he can drink the sweet milk of our tears. You see, it's our tears, Stan, that give God his great power.

I wont ever retire, I'm  a farmer, I'm a tradesman with several
crafts but ultimately I grow food, I enjoy working the dirt, it's
hot, sweaty filthy work but it's honest. Plus I discovered that
when people retire, they die... fuck that noise, it's not in my plans

Isn't that the truth! I never really thought of it that way.

So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

This is a tough one for me.  I have been an auto mechanic for the last 6 years.  I couldn't imagine doing this type of work until I retire.  I already have had some back problems and hand cramping and I'm only 27.  I love a hands on job but I couldn't be competitive enough in auto mechanics when I'm 50 or so.

Yep.  Life.  I'm going to retire from life.

Early retirement, though, will be from Environmental Engineering.  Long enough to pay off debts and buy property.
Maybe some slaves too...I'm not sure yet.

Well I'm about to be receiving my BS in arts then I'm going to go and get my MFA (masters of fine arts) then I'd be qualified to be a college level teacher or I may be a struggling artist and just work on getting my name out there.

When I do retire I plan on starting a microbrewery. I just picked up this hobby of making beer.

Or If I get hella rich it'd be kick ass to own a vineyard as a retirement plan.

Preferably somesorta specialist with a phd that people consult, an anthropologist, archaeologist, experimental psychologist, mychologist, sociologist, botanist, metaphysicist, quantum or astro physicist, etc.

Or I may just retire owning my own business, a teahouse or a danceclub or something.

most farmers I know own their land, or at least have it
mortgaged in their name, those that are receiving farm subsidies
are usualy in hock up to their eyes having to re-equip to meet
the requirements, if they default due to a bad year they may
lose their place, a great number of farmers are 3rd and 4th
generation, land passed down but often times it still carries a
mortgage

I factored in almost everything in my purchase, land, equipment,
fencing, buildings etc... I have no mortgages, no loans of any
sort on anything, all I earn is mine, less what the IRS demands
of course the last 4 years I've been in the red, I'm paying to
work so I can understand why so many of them are taking out the loans
