Re: What kind of bed do you have? [Re: blewmeanie]

I have a Japanese style platform bed.

Holy shit I love it so much more than a regular bed.

My back always used to hurt sleeping on a box spring, but I sleep like a baby nowadays.

What do they feel like? Ive seen them, bu never laid on one. I imagine that it is like the huge goose down mattress my great grandmother had when I was a kid. It was soft and squishy firm yet compact everywhere.

The prices on even a cheap one are insane though.

That's the thing is that instead of the box spring, they have bamboo slats going from side to side of the bed.  And the bamboo slats are slightly bent so they're flexible.  But still wood.  And then if you put down a nice thick mattress, you are in heaven!

So you lie down and the whole bed automatically adjusts itself to your body shape, but you still have an incredibly firm surface to sleep on.  Plus, it's only a foot off the ground, so if you fall out of bed it doesn't hurt!

I have a full sized mattress on the floor. Usually it works pretty well, but with my growing baby-belly, it's getting to be a pain in the ass just getting myself lowered to lay down at night, and getting up in the morning is ridiculously hard...
