I don't have an answer, but I want to thank you for asking this. This morning I was wondering how many generations of taking prints for certain characteristics it would take to see results.

Cloning a tall mushroom will result in tall mushrooms, but I don't think a tall mushroom's spores will produce particularly tall mushrooms.

Its selectively picking the mushroom spores for their genetic traits that has helped to move the genetics of many strains to where they are.
but spore matches can be good or bad - that is the nature of multispore innoculation. By cloning or isolating a good and viable strain you are ensuring that it will likely fruit the same as its original because in essense it has the same genetics

to a very slight extent. It mostly has to do with the way it's grown.
