So I get my absentee ballot today for local elections. It's filled with a bunch of jackasses names. A note is attached: "your affiliation on your request for a ballot was different than what you indicated when you registered. We have tried to contact you but have been unable so we sent you the affiliation from when you originally registered" (which was several years ago). The date to register is 7/21.

No one ever tried to contact me. Ever. I answer my phone religiously because its a work phone. No messages. No nothing. They fucked me out of this election. I called and talked to some "lady in charge", and told her my tale. Since the ballot is sent, and registration has passed, it is what it is.

What sucks is they had plenty of time to contact me. I registered over a month ago. If something was problematic they should have actually contacted me.

Voting is bullshit. kthnxby

I'm pretty sure you can A) prove that they never called you, and B) sue them for election/ballot tampering if it bothers you that much.

It does kind of bother me. The party I wanted to vote for isn't that popular, and they fucked me on my one vote.

Even with a local election, I feel slighted.

It's a scam, but you can kick up a fuss and at least hurt them financially. Election fraud is a federal offense, and if you were to get some pen pusher imprisoned for their corruption, they would have to think twice before participating in non democratic agendas.

I mean, the people you want to sue are the people that get to decide who wins.  So thats a scam too.

The US election process is a straw poll. Delegates decide (and should honour their voters choice, but do not) what vote to cast.

But at least Mr Joe Average can feel he made a difference on election day when he makes his mark next to the polititan he wanted to be ushered in to govern him.

That is absolutely untrue.

The PRESIDENTIAL election, it's true, uses an electoral college. HOWEVER, the number of times a representative has voted AGAINST the popular vote of his or her state can be counted on your fingers.
