There's no way in hell you could get me to drive an 800 pound car. I'd love to see the first time someone gets caught in a crosswind,or in a heavy storm.

I don't think they're making electric suvs, at least no the kind of which we speak.

funny, but doesn't matter. any shape or size car that light is Going to be dangerous for most people that know little more to driving than gas, brake, turn.  I can't believe they didn't step back and see that huge flaw, they are toting as a advantage.

I agree a suspension redesign may be in order (or at least a major tweak in callibration), but it's not like this is a major flaw.  Lol, too little weight, never thought I'd hear that one.

The obvious first step would be to just make cars lower to the ground.  Hopefully this will coincide with the demo of all existing speed bumps on earth.

I've owned quite a few tiny lightweight cars. You have to learn to drive them in bad conditions. And these are cars that weight around twice what those do.

I think if your average Joe Hippygreenfag got in one of those the first time he encountered bad conditions he'd be dead. Lucky a car that light probably wouldn't do much to any other cars around.

Go drive a 55 caddi in a thunderstorm, then drive a fiat or a Gutted Beetle, or an old datsun or something. It's more major than you think.

Overconfidence in technology is always a killer.

** gettind rid of speedbumps would be cause for a serious party.

My first car was a 66 bug (still own it), and I know what you're talking about, when I drive that sucker down the 99 south of bakersfeild :yesnod:

Driving in a straight line has never been so hard.

I love it's handling around corners though, it just takes a bit of practice I guess like you said.

I don't really drive new cars, but they're coming out with all these idiot-proof driving technologies for traction in tough conditions.  Not sure how effective they are in practice, but they seem to work in the commercials that I vaguely remember seeing :tongue2:

FWIW, old beetles and busses were dangerous at speed due to their aerodynamics and from having not enough caster.  A set of caster shims really helps.  I'm more confident @120(4x+ power over stock) in my bug w/ shims than my old stock super at 70.  With proper aerodynamics and suspension geometry, a light car can be very stable at high speeds, even with heavy winds.

I also feel that modern small cars are safer than the monsterous tanks of yore.  Modern cars are designed to take a lot of the shock of an accident with crumple zones and such, old cars transfered all the collision force to the occupants.  Even the smart car is deemed really safe.
