My advice is to find those things that give pleasure and do them often without too much attachment and relax and wait for the show to end.

I like free markets and all. Truly I do, at least in general, but there needs to be some kind of oversight in recognition of sustainability. Life works the same way, on a bunch of sustainable systems. Why not honor what made us what we are and take some lessons? Nature FTW!

soo this is kinda on the topic, does anyone know if i get a loan for college if i can use that money for anything? like rent, food, gas ect the small stuff thats needed to get to/survive school? or does it have to go towards tuition, books ect?

Yea a loan is a loan.

Always apply at fafsa, and if you go to a community college, also apply for the governors fee waiver. Could get your classes for free...


I never did manage to get a scholarship or a grant :frown: guess I suck...

You get a check and spend it on anything you want.


That really depends.  That's how a private loan works, but a Pell Grant or Stafford Loan will generally be sent to your school first and then after tuition is covered the school's financial aid office will cut you a reimbursement check for the difference.

Im going back to school this fall too.

Already filled out my FAFSA, just need my parents sig.

Im looking at a few grants given by the school, should tally up to about 2,000.

And school will only cost me about 750, maby.

Community college.

The rest, if i get it, is going to bills. lol.

Cant wait till i get into my core classes, Chemistry FTW. :vaped:

I wasn't going to apply fafsa because its part of the government, but my father did and got 200$.

500 will cover a couple books depending..  But if your thinking "Books and all" to be books + other stuff, then your wrong.

I payed over 700 for my books.

The key is selling them back and buyin' used.

You can usually get international editions for extremely cheap.  Most of my books are supposed to cost over 100 bucks here in the states, but I often get them for less than 50 a piece.

Ya 500 was going to be an estimate. And yes its a community college. Im going to do my lower end stuff then transfer to a 4 year. PRobally up in Humboldt! Ill work my way up to the promise land.

I'm assuming that you're a US citizen... if so go to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ apply there it can't hurt (mark Hispanic in the ethnicity box, it'll get you more money). Don't put your bills on a credit card, go to Wells Fargo and apply for a "student select" loan, the payments are differed until 6 months after graduation, you might need a co-signer. Consider applying for UPS, they give your $1500 a term up to $15,000 over 10. Pull an outstanding GPA and you could get a hefty scholarship.
