Burley Longboard crash today
    #8661394 -

Speed wobble is a bitch.

More places are torn up, but not as bad.

I saw some guy die from crashing on speed wobble.  Always wear a helmet.

tis a sick board for sure man! I have a really similar riptide pattern on my sector 9 - got some double kingpin gullwing trucks which make carvin all too much fun. my friend has a loaded dervish which is pretty much the sex on wheels, thing has so much fucking flex it's ridiculous. don't know why i just gravitated towards longboarding, it's a serious addiction at this point. shortboards just don't have the soul

downhill runs are fun shit with some tightened up trucks - just gotta be wary of those pesky fucking cars. fuckers are not payin any attention anymore - it's like pedestrians and non motorists are second class, and with people multitaskin and shit with their pdas and etc the last thing they're concerned with is ruining someone elses life by not focusing on the road infront of them

We do serious, dedicated downhill all the time. With trucks so loose they almost flop.

It's all in your head.

That's awesome! I would never try it, though.

curious, why exactly WOULD you have loose trucks for straight lining/bombing hills? that makes no sense  unless you like unnecessary speed wobbles/danger

My trucks are floppy loose on all boards in all situations. It's just how i skate. I like to turn, when i like to turn,as hard and fast as grip will let me.

"loose trucks save lifes" We rarely Bomb straight hills, but even then,as you said, you never know what's going to cut into your path, you need that ability.

It just feels right.

...and Like i said, speed wobbles are all in your head. All you have to do is relax, relax your body like it's a wet noodle, and you'll slowly diffuse, and ride them out.

that's actually really good advice, thanks man :yesnod:
i realize that downhill is all about confidence, being focused and maintaining for the duration, but i want to be as comfortable and experienced with slides and my board in general before i start that spectrum of the game up. plus some good safety gear is def a requisite in my mind at those speeds

Honestly. We were just old tranny/bowl skaters for years and years, when we started Doing downhill to spice skating up again.

Just went for it. If your really comfortable on a skate then you should be fine if you take baby steps in more bad ass runs.

We were already Doing 50+mph runs with no gear at all,and Neither of us could really do any sliding(just fucking around in the rain). Even now we don't wear any gear. I occasionally wear my murdercycle gear( just a helmet and jacket), but thats really, really rare.

That's bad advice though:lol:. It's really all about comfort and judgment. Very small movements make big changes. And you have to really pre-make every movement in your head and get ready for the changes before it happens. All very subtle, and very relaxed. That's whats so awesome about it. To not die, you have to stay so relaxed and peaceful, yet your blasting down a road at 50+ on a fucking skate.

The best thing you can do for inproving skating is to loosen up them trucks. Just like a half turn a week, until your rocking it wheelbite to wheelbite at 45+. it's just ultimate command. It feels like you have limitless mobility to do anything you want.

We've actually been neglecting Downhill, and skating as a whole lately.
Sucks when  you get older, only getting out there a few times a month.  It's funny this thread came up, i was actually hoping to get out there tomorrow, got the day off.
