Russula virescens
    #8660216 -

Today's foray yielded a pound of Russula virescens.  I tried a bite of these the other day and it was pretty good.  I didn't vomit or pee out of my butt.

These were mycorrhizal with Oak:

IME, you appreciate your meals a lot more when you take them directly from the earth.

I mostly focus on the scientific side of mushrooms, studying them except for the few trusted edibles I enjoy.  I am s-l-o-w-l-y learning to eat them.  However, I agree.  I have been gathering and eating since I was 12 or 13.

I found some of those but they were a little to ripe to collect. The coloration on the caps are pretty trippy.

Russula variata has distinctive forked gills; Russula virescens has intermediate gills (occasionally) with a quilted green cap.
