Why bother? The ones you can find in plentiful amounts likely no more than a km from your home are 3-4 times more potent by volume than Psilocybe cubensis and you don't have to worry about the biosecurity risks and customs let alone the fact you are then cultivating a class A substance.
Just go for a stroll dude!

Yea xthrx has it right it was more just being curious about growing indoors all year round. From the research i have done it seems that P subs are a bit too temperamental to grow inside effeciently. It definatly wouldnt stop my winter strolls.

Don't worry about the temps. Mix your mycelium with newly chipped wood (ask an arborist, they can't get rid of the stuff), some ripped up newspaper, some dirt, maybe some dried cabbage tree or flax leaves too. Make sure it's at least 50% wood chips. Mix in a wheelbarrow or similar. Put it in a layer 3/4/5 inches or so deep, water thoroughly, and cover with half inch of soil.
If in outdoor tub, keep out of too much sun, but a couple hours a day is fine. If in a layer in garden, put on south side of shrubs or flaxes. The soil layer helps keep it moist. Water every now and then. The mycelium grows all the time, unless it's really cold, but faster in summer. Resist the temptation to keep digging it up to see what's happening.
Look for fruiting to start April or May, depending upon your local weather. The cold night time temps (5degC or so) triggers the fruiting. The bed really doesn't need too much watering, just a little extra over summer. Remember, these guys do this naturally without human assistance.
I have documented the results of this process earlier this season here: Psilocybe Subaeruginosa NZ April 2010
This Shroomery user: Loki has posted a lot of excellent outdoor wood lover grows. Run a search for "loki wood lovers" to see a whole bunch. Lots of useful info in there.

I'm still finding odd pockets of them around, not over yet.
If we have another bout of cold weather before end of September there may be a flush or two left, they're still out there!

dont ask for mushies on the forum. they are a class a substance and posession as well as dealing are highly illegal.
