Yamaha makes surprisingly good acoustics as well.

There is nothing in this world like getting to know a new guitar.  Enjoy it.  I like the cut out feature, bugs the shit out of me trying to stretch around the body to access the higher register.

I guess I would be lame if I didnt know what I was talking about. its not like I dont run on average 18 concerts a week for the last two years... it isnt like I havent worked at 3 professional recording studios... it isnt like I havent worked in every aspect of audio excluding game audio... or spend every waking second discussing and listening to all types of music.

so.. yeah, you can go fuck yourself. I know what I am talking about. I have seen every fucking guitar PFLd and listened to them through headphones and a nice PA. I know which guitars have great applications for live and which ones are better suited for studio. sometimes a feedback buster doesnt affect a really resonant guitar with a shitty pickup.
I have spent more time working on EQing acoustic guitars than you have spent stroking yourself and all of fire island... so yeah, GFY.

i havent liked a martin made in the last 15 years.

imo, right now taylor and larrivee are making the best acoustic guitars

well, not evry model is going to be amazing. but from a sound guys POV, you cant go wrong with GUild. now if you want a very resonant, acoustically loud guitar, then that is a different story.
but martin, you cant go wrong. always solid. or a very old school alvarez.

maybe I am biased since I see more martins than anything here in nashville. therefor I see all their products being played so well by session players.... but it is also saying something when they all have martins/guilds.

one of my old co workers was/is Framptons guitar tech and Floyd Rose tried to steal him away. dude is a guitar fa-reak... I will ask his opinion on this matter the next time I see him.

I am self employed as a guitar tech/repairman/builder. I put my hands on hundreds of guitars a week. Guild hasn't been very good since selling out to fender a bit over a decade ago. You can still find good Martins, but for the most part they just sound average now... definitely not worth the price anymore. If I had to choose one acoustic guitar to purchase now it would be a Larrivee with Taylor coming in a close second.

btw, I lived in Nashville for 25 years. It is a great city. I know a lot of the musicians and studios very well. I used to spend many an hour in Woodland Studios before it closed after the tornado tore up east Nashville not to mention untold amounts of hours spent in Masterphonics. What part of the city do you frequent?

all of it. I have been running sound in town for 2-3 years now at mercy lounge, 3rd and lindsley and well basically I have worked every venue in nashville excluding the ryman.

one more thing... I would say that 90% o f everyone I know has an acoustic/electric in their house and I bet that 75% of those people have never even heard that guitar amplified.
so, there is a huge difference between the acoustic projected sound and the quality of the pickups.... frankly, I dont hear an acoustic guitar unless it is amplified through its pick up... and well Guilds hand woudn pickups have always had such rich tone I have always creamed a little when they are in the room.

he has been out of town... he might be coming back this week but I cant remember.
frankly I loathe working Wooten Wednesdays... but I dont have anything against the people personally, I just draed having to work it.
plus these last three weeks have been actually fun without having to listen to reggies god awful squire.

guilds dont have "hand wound" pickups. they use fishman piezo pickups like most everyone else.

Are you a tall skinny kid? If so, you would recognize me by face. We have had many many conversations.

also, yes, reggie's guitar sunds terrible... not to mention the fact he turns up the amp 4 times a night. He's a cool dude, though. I have hung out at his house 30+ times. I go to catch those nights when Keith is on bass. That dude is a monster.

i have been trying to tell that to jewunit. motherfucker keeps saying victor is the greatest bass player.. i tell him he needs to see Keith Horn.

he hasnt played in a long time, they had john billings, and now steve forrest who is a pretty funky white dude on the bass in his own right.
also, reggie and joseph had a falling out and he isnt playing keys in the band anymore, but futureman comes in every night.

but you are probably thinking about Mikey, he used to run soudn here for 5 years before me, still does every now and then when I need a vacation.

reggies ego. joe got pissed about never playing new songs and how reggie would ruin the flow and hype just when the crowd was getting into it with his 30 minute solo.
they got a really young guy playing keys now who isnt as good as joe, but he is an amazing vocalist, just got off the road singing backup for Johnny Lang and he has kind of taken over the singing part of the show.

but the guy I get along with the best is Raymond Massey (sp?)... he is the drummer and works for Pearl during the days... he got us a pearl sponsorship and vision series housekit.
I have put a lot of work into this venue and it is a sweet, slamming system now that can soudn as good as most medium sized line arrays.
I personally hate how Mikey mixed, but a lot of musicians loved him because he would always have drugs and party... :shrug:
but I like to think I have made this venue a step above what it used to be.

raymond is a great drummer. i think he used to tour with tanya tucker. monster double kick bass. if you ever get the chance to watch a new guy, check out justin amarol on drums. i think he is on the road with jr brown right now, but he and i used to play with el buho. i am a bassist. he's a great person, too.

my bedtime. nice chatting with you. i'll stop in 3rd and lindsley next time i'm in town to say hi.
