I think I'm bored of concerts

The idea that I'm bored with concerts is starting to creep into my consciousness lately. I used to go to a lot of concerts but most of the time I would never want an encore, I was ready to go by the end. All you really do is just stand there and listen to music. Somehow I can't see what I ever saw in them to begin with. I think it was just a good excuse to eat a lot of drugs.

I'm only 23 though. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Try going alone, to a band you really want to hear live.

On another note though, festivals are a little different because it's not 100% about the music. You get to camp out and be around tons of people all having an awesome time. Some concerts are just annoying though. Drive there, listen to some band, leave. Yawn.

Yeah I can see what you are saying, but at the same time music started off only live. It was a way to bring people together. I think I already figured out what was actually going through my head.

I'm not saying that recording don't have their place.. because they do. But you get an element of magic from seeing live acts you don't get from albums.

Also.. music has always been live as long as music has been around. Recordings are a recent thing..

Fair enough.  I love live music too though.  I was just being a bitch, for bitch sakes.

Best concert I ever saw was a few months ago Mars Volta or Tool in '06. 

Or Queens of the Stone Age during Lollapalooza '03.  Didn't hurt that I was working for the concert venue that night running stage video. No one had heard of these guys yet and when they came on some people were booing, I mean, come on "Queens of the Stone Age"?  Hahahaha.  They all walked out slowly and picked up their instruments and just laid down the most wicked set I think I've ever heard.  I was "bass player" camerman and the bassist for Queens just electrified the entire arena.  I glanced behind me and the whole crowd was just stunned.  :lol:

Makes me grin just thinking about it.

I saw The Mars Volta yesterday... fuck me that was a completely different experience, one of the best live shows I've ever seen.. I got blazed as a motherfucker and got really close to the stage and was grooving out for their whole set :grin:.

You must be going to the wrong shows man :shrug:.

i think it completely depends on the artist. some music is "live" music, some is "studio" music. personally, there is nothing i hate more than going to see a band and having it sound like their cd played through a loud PA. not that there isn't some music that is great but would never work live, but for me nothing gets the spirit moving like a great, balls-to-the-walls, going-way-the-fuck-out-there-only-to-secretly-slip-back-into-the-groove, improvisational live music.
