Some cubes, a bolete like mushroom, and two orange weirdos... id pls
    #8575771 -

ok. found some cubes at my mom's today, so here are a couple of pics of those for you active whores...

ok, with that out of the way, here is the pored mushroom that is very bolete like...

I'd like to know what it is. It has a brown cap, white pore surface with very small pores similar to a polypore, white flesh. Purple markings/staining on the stipe. Not sure of spore color, as I haven't printed them yet. If necessary, I can post that later. Found under a persimmon tree. Mom says they're plentiful, and will collect more for me if they are edible.

Finally, I have an oddball. I found these growing off the side of a cow pie, curly stems where they didn't seem to have a direction as to which way they wanted to grow. Orange caps, orange stems, orange gills, orange spores. Stem attachment on the edge of the cap, like an oyster. I'm sure they're not edible, but I would like to know what they are, because I've not seen an orange spored dung mushroom before.

so there ya go. Two posts in two days. I'm on a roll, people!

i dont' know about tylopilus, cactu. The pore surface hasn't changed colors, and is very white, not pink at all. No bruising either, as far as I can tell. The got broken on the way home... crushed. Still look the same, if a little beat up.

Does the Bolete taste bitter?

Is it this one?

Interesting orange spored dung mushroom.  The only orange spored genus I know that grows on dung is Conocybe.

oh man... I tasted the bolete... UGH! Bitter as hell. Maybe cactu was right.

Allen, you may be right on there.

The pore surface did turn pinkish. The stems were full of maggots, too. I'm kinda glad they weren't good edibles, but I have yet to properly ID an edible bolete.

I really want to find some, because I know they will be awesome.

no spores... left them covered by a bowl overnight and they didn't leave anything noticeable on the foil
