Dunking smell???EL HELPO

Well after i dunked my cakes in bleach, i dunked them in spring water for 24hrs.....now the problem is there is no visible sign of contamination, but the cakes smells a bit funky, is it normal for cakes to smell funny after being dunked?????

can you describe the smell beyond just "funky"?
i find the cakes naturally have a bit of a mushroomy smell to them. it could very well be chlorine you smell. give us more than "funky"

it could possibly be the chlorine or.....when dunking....it seems i blued a bunch of little mushrooms....could that be the smell? the dead mushrooms i mean? the smell is musky, like a swamp
