I have cable, but barely watch it.

Only thing i enjoy are the documentaries. Apart from that, i loathe TV.

As soon as i got the internet i stopped watching TV. I used to keep it on in the bacground, but eventually stopped turning it on. It was a good 7 years ago when it was eliminated and i loved not watching it. I cannot stand the ad's, there's never anything good on, and it always kept me awake at night, channel flipping looking for something good on.

I'm at a place that has cable, and there's encore and for the next 6 months, free HBO. I dont pay much for it, and i have been watching it again lately. It's kinda nice to get some of the old favorites, like the science channel and whatnot. Still however, i find that i still have a hard time finding stuff to watch. I'd rather have on demand.

I had free cable in this house up until it got shut off
sometime last year, I've never missed it.  The
internet is way more fun, plus if I want to watch
a documentary or sports game, I can easily
find them on the internet. Also this is not the first
house I've had with no TV.

yeah TV could be an unstoppable force for good, culture and revolution. but it isn't. some documentaries etc are good but mostly I find these watered down to the point of simplistic repetition for the sake of filling dead air, telling me nothing I couldn't read/learn on Wikipedia. I do have a couple of TV vices still (Eastenders, some old comedy stuff, local news) but other than that it's Internet all the way baby. :heart:

Yeah we don't have cable in our house. TV is just for movies/games, and internet is better than TV anyway!

My house got hit by lightening back in 2002 and blew out my TV.  I decided to see what life would be like without one.  (Actually, I was waiting for prices on plasma televisions to drop a bit...)  The first two months were a bit rough, but after that, I never looked back.  I still download a few shows from the internet from time to time, but I don't live my life in front of the TV any longer.  By not watching TV, I add four hours to my life every day that I live (that would have otherwise been spent zoned out watching commercials).  I am amazed at how much more time I have to do things that I enjoy.  I highly recommend getting rid of the television; it is a rough start, but the benefit to quality of life more than makes up for the initial pain.

I think people are failing to see the connection between their TV and computer, it's all how you use it that effects you, not the product it's self or whats on it, you choose what you see.

i have no cable, but i would like to have it if i can afford it. most everything is garbage, but i would really like to have discovery, history, national geo, comedy central, and cartoon network. there are probably a few other things, too, but i can't think of them.

i don't know if they still have it, but my friend had a satellite and got the discovery science channel. i am obsessed with that channel in every way.

the thing that pisses me off is that you have to get a basic package. if i could just get the channels listed above i would pay for the whole package. i lived in a hotel for a couple of months about a year ago and would find my self sitting down to watch a half hour show, with the intent of getting some stuff done afterwards. 3 hours later i'm flipping through infommercials looking for something to watch. no damn self control.

when laziness loses the boredom aspect, there's trouble.

Haven't watched TV or cable in 5 years at my place. Just play dvd's. When I do see cable at a friends place its the same old same old.

I canceled my cable about a year ago.  One of the best things I've ever done.  Life is too short and there are so many things I want to do.  There's always something better to do than sit in front of the TV.  And I sure don't want to pay for such low-quality entertainment.

The only TV I watch is NFL football, at a friends house, and the occasional MMA pay per view.  All TV is a social activity for me.

I don't have TV.  I'm using wireless internet from neighbors and I listen to NPR for news/weather.
