parents political opinions make you angry?
    #8530867 -

my fathers political opinions really irritate me, i cannot seem to get into a discussion about politics with him without wanting to scream. hes so goddamned confusing its just sad.  he loves drugs, hates the government, he doesnt agree with war, but voted for bush both times and will be voting for mccain. he just told me a minute ago that obama has "no chance in hell" at winning and hes voting for the "least of the evils".

:rofl2:

its so hillariously aggrivating i want to strangle him!  its people like my dad that kept bush in office.

Every time I cast a vote, I do so knowing that I'm canceling out my father's.

I know I sound like a dick, but all of the republicans I meet tend to the dumbest most stubborn people I've ever met. I guess you could say Im pretty "conservative", Im for small government, low taxes, and capitalism. But for some reason every "republican" I know calls me an "environmentalist" (they mean it in a bad way), a liberal, and a hippie. I mean WTF Im about as far from a hippie as you can be. Yeah I like clean air, and open unpopulated spaces, but who doesnt.

I just dont understand whats up with republicans lately, when did disagreeing with democrats become a political ideology. Its like liberal means democrat: Democrat means not a Republican: Republican means Conservative: Conservative means not a Democrat: and Libertarian means your a dumb pot head college student. Its insanity, idealism has become branded. Politics shouldnt be a comercial!:crankey:

I really wish for once we would all just put the political name tags aside, and think for ourselves. I dont agree with all of Barack Obama's ideals, but the one thing he has that every other viable candidate lacks is the ability to talk honestly about a topic.

Honesty gets my vote, even If I dont always agree with whats said.

Isn't it amazing that his ability to tell the truth is being labeled as "rhetorical eloquence"? You're right on about the branding, everyone is confined to a euphemism, and even if you aren't you still are, as an "extremist".

There isn't any reasoning. Even if he was a viable candidate (and he's far from it), Bob Barr stands to take at least twenty percent of his constituency.

I think a reasonable assumption would be that everyone he associates with is voting for McCain. He probably listens to talk radio, watches fox new too. Its easy to insulate yourself from reality without even realizing it. Most Democrats do the same thing. For 4 years now Ive been listening to members of the democratic parts saying "I just dont understand how he got elected again, It has to be voter fraud, no one would actually vote for him".

If had a son, I would happily put a foot in his ass if he came home with a Che Guevara shirt on just for being a dumb ass. I feel like burning down hot topic every time I see one in the window.

Che would be pissed if he knew how his face was being bastardized.

I'm the same way pretty much, not really conservative or liberal, it really depends on the issue.  I wager I am older than many here, so my father is older as well, but I find his political views interesting to say the least.  To use an example, he thinks that "fox news" is liberal, left wing, hippy propoganda, that is how far to the right he is.  But as has been said, you should never let politics, religion and all that type of opinion based BS come between family.

i agree to a certain extent, however if my father was a FAR right leaning,  religious nut  and tried to push his views on me no matter how much i told him i hated it, i doubt i would talk to him much.

"least of the evils".

That was my opinon when I voted for kerry. I still feel bad about that. I now like to repeat the mantra now though that voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil.

Calamity's waiting for a way to get to her
Rosy red and electric blue
I bought you a paddle for your paper canoe

Say you'll come back when you can
Whenever your airplane happens to land
Maybe I'll be back here too
It all depends on what's with you
