summer monsoons!

Father's Day is the start of the summer monsoon season in the sonoran desert, and with awesome rainstorms come full flushes up on the top of our nearby mountain!
We haven't had any rain since I started getting into mycology and I can't wait to see what we have up there. I know that we get lots of shrooms because I've seen them many times before. I was never "into" them enough to care what they were. I'm collecting my ass off now though!!
It was cloudy and muggy all day today. C'mon rain!:headbanger:

Huh?

Not in my part of the desert.  We have another month or so.  This is the driest time of the year...

Cant wait for some thunderstorms though. I love em.

EDIT - Well I looked it up, and apparently the National Weather Service decided to 'declare' today monsoon as of 2008.  Regardless, it will be a month or so till the rains come.

the monsoons are my favorite time of the year. nothing beats a good show of lightning. im gonna eat some mushies and watch the sky during a storm sometime. should be interesting :thumbup:

Born and raised in the desert. I couldn't agree more! Monsoon season rocks. People don't believe how the lightning is when I try to explain it.
It's been about twenty years since we've had the really big storms. Hope our "drought" is over soon...

Monsoons fucking rock out. Its such a nice change from 110 degree weather to see rain for once. Last year was mild but the year before that was intense:eek:

P.S.

The sunsets after a mid afternoon monsoon are the most amazing ive ever seen

Yeah, I was recently telling someone that the thing I missed most about the desert was the great summer thunderstorms.  I didn't see a single bolt of lightning in the 2+ years that I lived in San Diego.  I'm looking forward to this summers storms.
