Thunderstorm

Some pictures from my 11th story dorm at ASU.

Dorm destroyed is NOT mine, but the exactly above mine.  Glass is on my windowsill.








This was taken three days before.


This was taken during a flash of lightning which lit up the sky.


Notice the 8.4 million dollar dome is missing.

Haha yeah it was pretty wild last night.  Trees down all over the place, we lost power from 10 last night until noon today.

You could almost take a picture of my house from your dorm :eek:

That's some crazy shit, the Phoenix area has by far some
of the craziest electrical storms I have ever seen..When I
was in grade school my family would sit in the garage to
watch the show and my parents would hook me up with
beer:headbanger:

The craziest thing I've seen was on vacation in AZ.

It was raining but only the tops of buildings were getting wet. All the rain was evaporating before it even hit the ground.

I have lived here my whole life and have never seen lightning like that before.  There were so many strikes that the thunder was a continuous rumble for over an hour.  The sky was flashing with lighting at all different levels in the clouds, flashing quick like a strobe light.

I was driving down the US60 to work during all of that. I felt like I was falling through the atmosphere of some weird gas giant planet or something. The flashing of lightning were so constant and blinding, I had to put my sun visor down. Wicked cool though.

I love monsoon season.

In my little AZ town we get some crazy storms too, just last week
we had a tornado warning and enough hail to cover the ground.

I have seen a 100 year old Ponderosa Pine be hit by lightning and
explode into 12' 2x4s, and in town I have seen it rain on one side
of the street and walk across the street to find it bone dry.
