My cat has three legs, and it's my fault
    #8400497 -

I was given an awesome beautiful fluffy white kitten a couple years ago. The people who had him got him high since his first day of life, when his little eyes were still closed. So needless to say, he wasn't a typical cat. He was the world's best cat though. He would not let you smoke without sharing with him, he'd jump up on your chest, and beg a shot-gun from you. He was super loving, and would rub his face into yours, "making out" with you for as long as you could tolerate it.

So one day we moved. Our new place was a HUGE house, (we had moved from a crappy gov't apt) and the yard was unbelievably giant. During the moving process we found some golf clubs and balls, and we went out to the yard, to hit a few balls. Hendrix was an indoor cat, and I didn't realize he had gotten out and was in our yard, until I hit a ball, (and man did I hit it) and it made a line drive right for his front right leg. His leg was snapped in half, and he did a back flip, and landed on it with such force, that it pushed the broken lower half up about three inches past the stump.

Well, it was a fuckin Sunday, and we didn't have enough money to get him treated what with "emergency weekend rates".

We got him real high, and crushed up half a trazedone, and dissolved it in some booze, which we mixed with some food.

The next day we finally find a vet who will treat him with a promise to pay, cause we were broke motherfuckers, and apparently most vets in that area have no souls and don't mind letting a crying cat leave their office un-treated, because the owners are broke. And they give us 2 options. They could operate, and pin the leg together as they would were it a human, but it might cause further problems later, cause Hendrix was still growing, and the pins might cause his bones to splinter. Or we could have the leg amputated. The surgery was gonna cost like $450, and the amputation only $150.

We opted to amputate, and he was kept over night. The next day when we came to see him after the surgery the vet told us that Hendrix did really well. He was surprised that he didn't cry all night, because he was probably in lots of pain, but instead, he was chill. (Due in no small part I am sure, to the pot, trazedone, and liquor).

So, now Hendrix is a three legged cat. He does pretty good for himself, though he falls on his face from time to time when making a big jump, and he can't seem to have sex with his girl, because he keeps falling off.

I feel like shit for the whole thing, and I don't tell people the story often, but it's nice to share it here, got it off my chest!!

that doesn't suck, it worked out well. at least you didn't hit him anywhere else, and you found a good vet, and at least it was a cat and not a little kid. i don't think the cat is holding any resentment or anything either :smirk:

Accident, for sure. There was no malign intent on your part, and you did your best to fix him up.

While you might feel guilty from time to time, these things happen. Just let it pass, give 'em a scratch behind the ear, and then go about your day. I'm sure he doesn't hold it against you -- probably doesn't even know how the whole thing happened.

I like the way you attempt to pin some sort of responsibility on the vet.

It was $450. Is that really too much to pay for the quality of life of a cat? You are absolutely at fault for this. If you had actually achieved anything in life the $450 wouldn't have been an issue.

If you aren't responsible enough to have $450 you shouldn't be able to own and take care of cat. You proved this point with your story.

you coulda sold the leg as a lucky rabbits toe, bet noone would have noticed and youd have back the cash of the amputation.

Obviously you are a complete jerk, AND in need of improving your reading comprehension. As I stated above, they said the surgery might cause him WORSE problems, and the vet even recommended going with the amputation. I COULD have afforded the $450 surgery just as easily as the amputation, considering I actually had NO money at the time, and had to work it out in payments. See, I told you I had just moved. Well, it just so happens that I moved into a 3 bedroom house that I bought. I had just spent all of my savings hiring a contractor to finish the basement, so we could have a rec-center inside my GIANT house.

How does your superiority feel now douchebag?
