MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN Says A PERFECT CIRCLE Is Still Alive

The Pulse of Radio reports: TOOL frontman Maynard James Keenan sent an email to fans last week in which he said that A PERFECT CIRCLE, the band he formed in 2000 with guitarist Billy Howerdel, is still a going concern even though both Keenan and Howerdel are both now involved with other projects. Keenan wrote, "As many of you may have heard, Billy and I are engaged in our own little projects for the moment. His is called ASHES DIVIDE and mine is called PUSCIFER...Please be advised that A PERFECT CIRCLE and TOOL are still alive and well. This is simply MORE." A PERFECT CIRCLE went on hiatus in 2004 after issuing three studio albums and one live set, while Keenan went back to work with TOOL and Howerdel began assembling ASHES DIVIDE.

ASHES DIVIDE's debut album, "Keep Telling Myself It's Alright", was released last month, with Howerdel unveiling the project's touring lineup this past weekend.

Keenan issued the debut PUSCIFER album, "V Is For Vagina", last fall, and continues to work on additional music for the project.

TOOL's latest album, "10,000 Days", surfaced almost exactly two years ago, and Keenan has said recently that the band could regroup later this year to begin work on its next effort.

Howerdel told The Pulse of Radio last year that he wasn't really sure whether A PERFECT CIRCLE would ever be reactivated, saying, "We might do something in the future, but all I can see is ASHES DIVIDE right now. That's kind of all I have in front of me."

before 10,000 days, i wanted him to focus on Tool. now i think Tool should dissolve, and he should focus on improving a perfect circle, because, much as I love the guy, eMotive sucked. balls.
so did 10,000 days.

i haven't lost all faith in him, but he needs to get back to rock & roll. soon.

A PERFECT CIRCLE has returned from its self-imposed hiatus. The band, led by Maynard James Keenan (TOOL, PUSCIFER) and Billy Howerdel (ASHES DIVIDE), will embark on a five-city tour this fall (dates and ticket on-sale information will be announced shortly). Shows in Phoenix (Marquee Theatre), Los Angeles (Avalon), Seattle (Showbox at The Market) and San Francisco (The Fillmore) will be three-night stops, with each night featuring one of A PERFECT CIRCLE's three albums ("Mer de Noms", "Thirteenth Step" and "eMOTIVe") in its entirety. Las Vegas (The Pearl) will be a two-night outing ("Mer de Noms" and "Thirteenth Step").

In other news, A PERFECT CIRCLE will perform on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on October 27.

A PERFECT CIRCLE has sold four million records in the U.S. After the band announced its hiatus in 2005, Keenan focused on TOOL , launched the multimedia project PUSCIFER and worked on his burgeoning Arizona vineyards. Howerdel went on to form ASHES DIVIDE, which released its debut album, "Keep Telling Myself It's Alright", in 2008.

Maynard James Keenan has been promoting his PUSCIFER project and "Blood Into Wine", the documentary about his Arizona vineyard business, while also touring with TOOL and reportedly prepping a new album with them.

Keenan hinted to The Pulse of Radio last year that A PERFECT CIRCLE could be making new music in 2010, although whether a full-length album was in the works remained to be seen.

Keenan made a surprise appearance during a show by Howerdel's other band, ASHES DIVIDE, at the Viper Room in Los Angeles in June, and the pair also performed together a few days earlier at the E3 video game convention.

The last A PERFECT CIRCLE record, a collection of political cover songs called "Emotive", was released in 2004.

This news is more than amazing. I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY hope they come closer to the east coast. I'd see all 3 shows.

But new album too, that and TOOL is working a new album... been a great month learning all this shit! 2 of my most favorite bands are BACK! FUCK YES!

There are no female Tool fans, only the occasional dickgirl.

This shit sucks. The band tries to sound sophisticated and philosophical, but they just come off as pseudo-intellectual retards who read too much and need to shut the fuck up, like every other emo stoner band.

What's worse is the fans, though. They act like Tool is some fucking mana from the heavens when it's really just a bunch of bullshit. There is no meaning to the lyrics; Maynard is just a baked retard who's usually too high on acid to even know he's singing.


Even Maynard thinks his fans are retards.

Tool is ultimately another shitty alternative metal band that claims they have "profoundly deep musicianship and songwriting" to prevent people from thinking they suck. WAT RLY MAEKS DEM SPECIAL IS DAT DEY USE SPECUL TIEM SIGNATUREZ TO MAEK ALL DER SONGZ SOUND EXACTLY TEH SAME!!!!!!!! However, when you take away all the progressive breakdowns (aka 8 minutes with only 30 seconds of pretentious substance) they sound exactly like Nickelback. Tool is also "praised" for their incorporation of visual arts, as if awkwardly slapping stop-motion into videos or shitty 3D into liner notes is something no one's ever done before.
