Anyone know where to find hydrated lime in Arizona? Found Dolomitic at Ace Hardware. Lowes and Home Depot are proving to be dead ends, any ideas?

I did actually find the damp rid at Ace but because of our soil I figured it might be a problem finding the lime.I wonder if Hawk has a local vendor he uses for the lime in the 50/50+ tek?

Moe's right. This may sound strange, but you should call some of the construction materials companies because they will actually mine this stuff and keep huge stockpiles of it. Most of the people from AZ on this board seem to be from the Tucson area, so you may want to try United Metro Materials - it'll be in the yellow pages. Depending on how much you want, they may charge you by the truck load, or even give it to you for free if you're looking for a couple of buckets. Hydrated Lime is used as an ad-mixture to sand & gravel for concrete mixes, so check any sand & gravel pit, they're all over the outskirts of the cities in AZ - especially on Indian Reservations because the federal mining laws don't apply there.

They have lime in the concrete area at home depot but it is not the same as the hydrated lime I am looking for. I would assume that it would be a garden supply.

Made a few more phone calls today and managed to find the hydrated lime. The person at the nursery said they normally don't have a lot in stock, so I bought the last 4 bags they had. The bag is red and yellow and has a Hi Yied label on the front. $2.99 for a 2 lb. bag. Complete brakdown shows:
Calcium (CA) - 51.00% Calcium Oxide (CaO) - 72.50 % Magnesium Oxcide (MgO) - 0.45 % Calcium Carbonate Equivalent (CaCO3) (eq.) - 131.00 % Calcium Hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) - 95.79 % E.N.P & E.N.V. - 130.35 %
Look like the right stuff?

When I lived in Tucson my friend called it Tucstoned AZ. It rains and snows a lot more up in the mountains like around Flagstaff than it does down in the valleys.
